Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Hours: Part-Time

Home Location: Easthampton, MA

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the routine cleaning of all areas of the facility. This individual should have a general knowledge of proper cleaning practices to ensure the safety and cleanliness of all surfaces, restrooms, and trash disposal.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Sweeps and mops floors in all common and restricted areas on a daily basis
• Cleans all employee bathrooms on a daily basis, including cleaning toilet and sink surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, trash removal, and restocking of paper towels and toilet paper
• Cleans hard surfaces periodically to remove dust
• Inspects buildings and supplies according to a pre-established checklist set by the Facility Manager to ensure the facility and its supplies are functional; prepare recommendations for needed repairs.
• Maintains a safe working environment, including wearing personal protective equipment, (PPE) ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment when not in use, using proper signage while working, etc.
  

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be at least 21 years of age

• High school diploma or GED required

• 3-5 years of experience working in a facilities maintenance position, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment, required

• Ability to identify cleaning and chemical supplies, to read and understand Hazard Communication Safety Data Sheets (SDS), to understand proper applications of chemicals and general cleaning supplies, and to frequently handle and properly dispose of these products

• Must be self-motivated and proactive about identifying areas for efficiency and improvement

• Must be adaptable and open-minded when troubleshooting new procedures or implementation of new systems
• Must have reliable transportation

• Must be committed to ensuring a secure facility and make sure all staff comply with established safety and security procedures

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for at least 8 hours per day

• Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to climb a ladder, kneel, stoop, and bend at the waist regularly

• Visual acuity needed for reading screens and fine print

Workplace Environment

• Building maintenance environment, indoor, consisting of exposure to seasonal temperature changes

• May be exposed to high places, harsh cleaning chemicals, and loud noises

• Consistent moderate to high background noise level due to machinery, environmental systems, and fans
• Exposure to cannabis odor
• Exposure to skin contact with plant resins, to which some individuals may be allergic (PPE provided)
• Exposure to moderate heat and humidity in bloom rooms

What you will do_*
In this role the custodian is responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of the facility. This position reports to the General Manager.

Highlighted Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
• Adhere to strict sanitation practices throughout the facility
• Facility cleaning and ensuring overall facility cleanliness and presentable– sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, vacuuming, etc.
• Ensure walking pathways are cleared of clutters and set up safety hazard notices such as trips, slips, or hanging hazards
• Keep an organizes maintenance equipment’s, facility tools, and consumables area
• Restock facility consumables such as paper towels, toiletries, cleaning solutions, etc
• Establish and perform facilities preventative maintenance plans
• Establish and/or manage facility waste service provider
• Submit and manage facilities maintenance tickets in computer system
• Manage inventories of required spare parts and tools to maintain facility functionality
• Able to work independently as well as operating as part of a team
• Participate in weekly meetings with other Facility Technician and Management
• All other tasks, as determined by the General Manager and Corporate Facilities Manager, to ensure smooth operation of facility

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or related field preferred
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
• Skilled in the use of power tools
• Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
• Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
• Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including off business hours as needed
• Specific certification preferred.

The Role

We are seeking an energetic and reliable janitorial porter to perform daily cleanings at our retail facility. This is a part time role with an average shift time of 2-4 hours. Overall duties will include removing debris, tidying, dusting, sweeping/mopping, restocking, cleaning bathrooms/breakrooms, and responding to all cleaning emergencies. This individual will follow a detailed cleaning checklist to ensure store cleanliness standards. This person will also be responsible for inventorying cleaning supplies and communicating ordering needs to the store manager. This is a janitorial role in a retail cannabis facility.

JOB FUNCTION

Position Summary: Custodian is involved with maintaining facility sanitation standards and ensuring facility safety. This role will address non-chemical spills, discard trash, clean restrooms, vacuum and polish floors, maintain clean glassware, and perform general supply and stock management for the facility

Responsibilities:

• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, corridors and other work areas throughout the facility.
• Clean gutters, rails, spigots, transfer air handling units weekly
• Identify and report building maintenance
• Keep front of building presentable, loading dock area and rear of building swept, clean and free of debris. Ensure grounds are always presentable.
• Work with Administration to maintain cleaning supplies and stock levels. Receive supplies, organize and maintain back stock. Submit purchase requests as needed.
• Understand safety protocols, compliance and SOPs. Identify safety hazards, address when applicable, report when the need to escalate arises.
• Understand SDS sheets, how to interpret and basic chemical safety required.
• Frequent sweeping and scrubbing of the facility; and mopping of the floors;
• Vacuum and clean rugs and carpets;
• Clean restrooms regularly;
• Empty waste receptacles;
• Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds;
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment and building at Facility Managers instruction;
• Maintain light bulbs, doors, and painting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: N/A

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience and working history that demonstrates stability and progressive responsibility.
• Experience providing cleaning or custodial services in a regulated environment preferred.

Preferred Experience:

• Ideal candidate will have at least 1+ years of cleaning in a cannabis dispensary.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
