POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of this position is to produce a consistent product in all Growing areas, with regard to quality, quantity, predictability, forecasting, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This position works closely with the Growing Manager in oversight of the department. Work schedule to include weekends and nights as needed.

- Manage raw materials and other materials and supplies to ensure production at the lowest cost possible.

- Communicate with other departments to coordinate repairs, schedule changes, and other problem-solving situations.
- Perform accurate recordkeeping as required by the area in which the Grower is assigned, relating to crop parameters, inventory, and raw material usage and deliveries.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Growing Manager in administering the Growing Department, filling in for Growing Manager during absences
- Work with the facility Safety Coordinator/Supervisor in those areas that are common to both workplace safety and food safety.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct Reports: Grower 1, Grower 2, Grower 3, and Growing Forepersons.
In addition to managing current direct reports; this position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management within that department.
- Responsible for interviewing, selecting, and training direct reports.
- Is responsible for reviewing performance and administering corrective action.
- Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- BS Degree from a 4-year college or university in the Agricultural field is highly desirable
- Two years of experience in each of the three areas of the Growing Department
- Strong computer skills especially pertaining to Excel and PowerPoint
Desired:
- Preferably 2 years experience in the food industry.
- Preferably 1-2 years experience in supervision.
- Bilingual in both written and spoken (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Additional professional certifications are preferred e.g. Six Sigma.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consistently deliver high-quality mushroom crops.
- Production forecasting. Monitor the quality and inventory of raw materials.
- Supervise hourly employees.
- Monitor, maintain and improve cost efficiencies via Lean Six Sigma.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, GMPs, Food Safety, and sanitation policies.
- Maintain monthly pesticide and food safety documentation.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in weekly reports in the functional work area
- Complete work orders and ensure work is done in a timely manner
- Obtain a pesticide applicators license.
- Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports.
- Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.
- Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.
- Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.
- Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times. Attends and/or conducts Safety Meetings.
Requirements and Skills:
Required:
- Demonstrated leadership qualities; must be a team player.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective communications with management, peers and subordinates.
Desired:
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
- B.S. degree in biological/agricultural sciences.
- Some experience in the cultivation of mushrooms preferred
- Basic Computer experience, email, Work and Excel
