The Public Health Investigations team has an opening for an Operations Support Professional We seek candidates who reflect our local population, are a part of our local community, and who can engage with our customers in a culturally responsive way. This position represents the agency in interactions with customers to help them file complaints, obtain information, and navigate to the appropriate program staff as needed. This position also provides direct support to the division’s staff who work in public health investigation and disease control programs, including residential health, food safety, cannabis, swimming pools, plan review, childcare, body art, epidemiology, and communicable disease investigation. This position will also engage with the other teams in DDPHE, including the office of the executive director, to ensure communication and coordination across programs and divisions when needed.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide general information about regulations, policies, standards, and agency procedures to customers.

Reviews and processes forms, including complaints, plan review documents, applications, affidavits, reports of inspection, and enforcement actions.

Maintains hard copy and electronic files and coordinates with customer to maintain updated facility files as needed.

Represents the division and/or coordinates as assigned for Department-wide initiatives and work groups.

Respond to sensitive inquiries and manage protected information according to agency and City procedures.

Maintains equipment and supplies for field staff and provides specific programmatic support as assigned.

Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. This may require being ‘on-call’ from time to time to help respond to emergencies. Additional training commensurate with assigned duties will be provided.

The Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory is currently seeking to hire a Forensic Scientist I to perform entry level professional forensic work while receiving on-the-job training in the methods, practices, procedures, and equipment of forensic science by applying physical sciences to the investigation of crimes and conducting scientific laboratory analyses on physical evidence.
The Denver Police Crime Laboratory investigates criminal cases from property crimes to sexual assault, homicide and other major crimes within the City and County of Denver.
This position will specifically focus on the analysis of Cannabis, delta-9 THC infused products and concentrates. This position will be located at Denver Crime Lab building at 1371 Cherokee Street.
Job responsibilities include:

Receives comprehensive instruction in the scientific analysis of physical evidence, develops competencies in forensic science including the laboratory techniques, methods, practices, and equipment, and is assigned less complex casework.

Conducts supervised chemical and biochemical analyzes of evidence to identify and confirm compositions and interpret results for use in felony investigations.
-
Maintains chain-of-custody for evidence by recording description of evidence, laboratory identification numbers, dates, times, tests performed, techniques used, and other pertinent information.

Prepares technical reports, maintains written and computer records of all tests, and consults with supervisors, investigators, and/or attorneys about findings and interpretation of results.

Assists in the preparation of court testimony that links findings with conclusions and the establishment of the scientific soundness of analytical methods.

Operates and performs preventive maintenance/minor repairs on state-of-the-art laboratory and analytical instrumentation and equipment.

By position, visits crime scenes to assist with the identification, collection, and preservation of physical evidence.

The Department of Excise and Licenses for the City and County of Denver is looking for a strategic leader to lead the enforcement team in the development of a data driven inspection and investigation regiment. This position will review, develop, and enhance all practices, processes and policies related to achieving enforcement compliance across our critical business lines (short-term rentals, cannabis, liquor, etc.).
The Department issues approximately 180 different business licenses and is a progressive leader on a local, national and international level. The Enforcement team investigates the qualifications for licenses under city ordinance and determines which licenses should be issued, renewed or suspended while ensuring consumer safety.
Your leadership and hard work will ensure that our Department's Mission of Protecting the Public’s Health, Safety and Welfare by serving our community though the regulation of Business is achieved through the inspection and investigation of at-risk businesses.
Job Duties include:

Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses is hiring for a Cannabis Process Navigator. This position will serve as a key marijuana industry resource within the City to support marijuana business licensees, city operations, and policy team members who regularly interact with the industry. This position will be the liaison across the several Denver Departments and agencies that regulate marijuana businesses. This position will require a thorough understanding of the state and city requirements for the various marijuana businesses that operate within the City.
In this position, you will:
- Provide education and support to social equity applicants about city marijuana business license application requirements and processes
- Create resources – including print materials, newsletters and virtual and in-person events – to aid social equity applicants in the development of their marijuana businesses and in the management of their compliance efforts
- Identify operational efficiencies and opportunities for the Department to streamline marijuana business license and amendment application requirements and processes
- Advise on the development of new marijuana policy initiatives that continue to protect public health, safety and welfare, while easing regulatory burdens on businesses and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive
- Provide education to the marijuana industry about city processes and requirements through the coordination and facilitation of cross-agency workshops and seminar; Assist the marijuana business community with navigating the processes within the City to comply with the complex and continually evolving state rules and regulations in addition to local Denver regulations (e.g., zoning, building, fire, public health and licensing requirements)

Investigation Supervisor - Excise and License

The Department of Excise and Licenses for the City and County of Denver is looking for a strategic leader to lead the enforcement team in the development of a data driven inspection and investigation regiment. This position will review, develop, and enhance all practices, processes and policies related to achieving enforcement compliance across our critical business lines (short-term rentals, cannabis, liquor, etc.).
The Department issues approximately 180 different business licenses and is a progressive leader on a local, national and international level. The Enforcement team investigates the qualifications for licenses under city ordinance and determines which licenses should be issued, renewed or suspended while ensuring consumer safety.
Your leadership and hard work will ensure that our Department's Mission of Protecting the Public’s Health, Safety and Welfare by serving our community though the regulation of Business is achieved through the inspection and investigation of at-risk businesses.
Job Duties include:
Establish work priorities for the team and develop a long-term strategic plan to ensure the tasks of the team are working towards achieving the mission and vision of the Department
Reviews all case files and documents to evaluate credibility of evidence, including investigator testimony, and ensure all phases of the investigation are complete
Develops or modifies work plans, methods and procedures, develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage. Provides work instruction and direction and assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments; encourages innovation. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion
Conducts hiring interviews and selects candidates for job openings
Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions; promotes teamwork. Encourages regular communication, informs staff of relevant business issues and their impact on the organization
Develops goals, documents performance, provides performance feedback and formally evaluates the work of the employee; provides reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Assists staff to achieve performance standards and identifies opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards
Documents causes for disciplinary action and initiates letters of reprimand and makes formal recommendations for disciplinary action. Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written responses

The Denver Police Department Crime Laboratory is currently seeking to hire a Forensic Scientist I to perform entry level professional forensic work while receiving on-the-job training in the methods, practices, procedures, and equipment of forensic science by applying physical sciences to the investigation of crimes and conducting scientific laboratory analyses on physical evidence.
The Denver Police Crime Laboratory investigates criminal cases from property crimes to sexual assault, homicide and other major crimes within the City and County of Denver.
This position will specifically focus on the analysis of Cannabis, delta-9 THC infused products and concentrates. This position will be located at Denver Crime Lab building at 1371 Cherokee Street.
Job responsibilities include:
Receives comprehensive instruction in the scientific analysis of physical evidence, develops competencies in forensic science including the laboratory techniques, methods, practices, and equipment, and is assigned less complex casework.
Conducts supervised chemical and biochemical analyzes of evidence to identify and confirm compositions and interpret results for use in felony investigations.
Maintains chain-of-custody for evidence by recording description of evidence, laboratory identification numbers, dates, times, tests performed, techniques used, and other pertinent information.
Prepares technical reports, maintains written and computer records of all tests, and consults with supervisors, investigators, and/or attorneys about findings and interpretation of results.
Assists in the preparation of court testimony that links findings with conclusions and the establishment of the scientific soundness of analytical methods.
Operates and performs preventive maintenance/minor repairs on state-of-the-art laboratory and analytical instrumentation and equipment.
By position, visits crime scenes to assist with the identification, collection, and preservation of physical evidence.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
