Public Health Investigations (PHI) enforces compliance with regulations to improve the quality of life, as well as regulations designed to minimize the risk of communicable and infectious diseases in regulated facilities or properties including commercial food service operations, childcare facilities, swimming pools, body art facilities, regulated marijuana businesses, apartment and condominium complexes, and single-family homes. DDPHE: Public Health Investigations

The Public Health Investigations team has an opening for an Operations Support Professional We seek candidates who reflect our local population, are a part of our local community, and who can engage with our customers in a culturally responsive way. This position represents the agency in interactions with customers to help them file complaints, obtain information, and navigate to the appropriate program staff as needed. This position also provides direct support to the division’s staff who work in public health investigation and disease control programs, including residential health, food safety,
cannabis, swimming pools, plan review, childcare, body art, epidemiology, and communicable disease investigation. This position will also engage with the other teams in DDPHE, including the office of the executive director, to ensure communication and coordination across programs and divisions when needed.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide general information about regulations, policies, standards, and agency procedures to customers.

Reviews and processes forms, including complaints, plan review documents, applications, affidavits, reports of inspection, and enforcement actions.

Maintains hard copy and electronic files and coordinates with customer to maintain updated facility files as needed.

Represents the division and/or coordinates as assigned for Department-wide initiatives and work groups.

Respond to sensitive inquiries and manage protected information according to agency and City procedures.

Maintains equipment and supplies for field staff and provides specific programmatic support as assigned.

Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. This may require being ‘on-call’ from time to time to help respond to emergencies. Additional training commensurate with assigned duties will be provided.

Previous administrative and/or operational support experience

Spanish language competency preferred

Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of clerical or technical operational support.

Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.

License/Certifications: None.
