The Public Health Investigations team has an opening for an Environment Public Health Investigator III-Plan Reviewer. The Environment Public Health Investigator III-Plan Reviewer role is responsible for conducting reviews of plans for all regulated food, pool, childcare, and
cannabis businesses. Success in this role means being independent and confident in performing high level reviews, determining requirements, and managing multiple projects and initiatives. Delivering findings and sanctions to constituents with tact and empathy, while still equitably enforcing our codes and standards, is a day-to-day responsibility. As such, effectively communicating to a variety of stakeholders will be crucial for success in this position.
Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Quickly and accurately review complex plans of all new and existing regulated businesses for compliance with applicable regulations

Interact with business owners, architects, property managers, and other stakeholders to educate them on applicable regulations and codes

Represent and collaborates with a variety of city and state agencies

Write detailed resubmittal and approval letters

Work closely with management regarding immerging concepts
-
Identify problems and recommend solutions to DDPHE leadership
-
Provide leadership and staff training on plan reviews and license signoffs
-
Provide presentations to staff and various stakeholders, as required
-
Initiates and leads program development
-
Provides monthly metrics to leadership
-
Along with all department staff, this position will actively participate on an emergency preparedness and response team to support DDPHE’s responsibilities outlined in the City’s Emergency Operations Plan. This may require being ‘on-call’ from time to time to help respond to emergencies. Additional training commensurate with assigned duties will be provided.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
-
A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Architecture, or a directly related field
-
At least 3 years of experience conducting retail food establishment, pool and/or childcare facility plan reviews
-
Completion of FD207 Plan Review Course
-
Experience utilizing Accela and Bluebeam software
-
The ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
-
Project management skills
-
Impeccable attention to detail and organization

Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree

Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience conducting environmental public health plan reviews, environmental public health investigations, or environmental public health management activities

Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
