Landau Laboratories, an industry leading Cannabis Testing laboratory in the Coachella Valley, California seeks a full time Analytical Chemist to work with HPLC instruments in Cathedral City.
The Analytical Chemist will execute sample analysis, review the results and will perform the data entry in the LIMS system in an ISO 17025:2017 certified laboratory, and will be responsible for all work performed in support of their assigned assay.
A successful candidate shall have at least two-year experience with HPLC instrumentation, troubleshooting techniques as well as have a penchant for organization and reliability.
Candidates having knowledge and experience with other analytical instruments such as GCMS or LCMS will be preferred.

Responsibilities.
- Performing Cannabis samples analysis on High Performance Liquid Chromatography.
- Conducting testing and managing the work flow with regards to exceptional execution of Phase 3 compliance tests required by the California Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC).
- Maintaining appropriate quality control (QC) processes and compliant procedures required by the BCC and the ISO 17025:2017 standard to guarantee accuracy and reliability of analysis.
- Conducting routine instrument operations for testing of samples using Landau Laboratories SOPs, reviewing the results obtained, and entering data in the LIMS and METRC systems.
- Updating/revising Laboratory SOPs and methods as necessary, under the supervision of the Laboratory Director.
- Participating in and successfully completing the semi-annual proficiency testing.
- Obtaining traceable & reliable results with limited supervision from the Lab Director. Discussing any abnormal/fail results and unsuccessful analytical batch runs (failed QC, etc.) with the Lab Director.
- The successful candidate should follow laboratory SOPs and should have excellent skills in scientific journal logging for reporting, computer software, and data management reporting.
- Periodic maintenance of analytical instruments and lab equipment is required.
- Going through the Landau Laboratories Analytical Training for Redundancy: The Laboratory Director and Lab Supervisor will provide training in additional analytical instruments and equipment on current SOPs, and other tasks inside the laboratory.
- Sample Preparation for Analysis – supervising and, if needed, assisting with sample preparation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), homogenization, sample weighting, extraction and dilution as required by the SOPs, sample organization, sample archiving and disposal, and other tasks inside the laboratory.
- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control.

Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Bio Chemistry or Environmental Sciences
- Minimum two-year experience and deep understanding of HPLC analysis.
- Knowledge of Agilent and Perkin Elmer instruments is a great advantage
- Cannabis industry experience is preferred
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is a plus
- Advanced PC user, excellent in MS office especially in Excel calculations, experience of working with LIMS

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform sample analysis and data review on client and QC samples utilizing validated analytical methods.
