JOB SUMMARY
Cresco Labs is seeking a Senior Manager, Consolidations and Financial Reporting to join our corporate finance team in Chicago, IL. The Senior Manager, Consolidations and Financial Reporting will be responsible for overseeing Cresco's internal financial reporting process, managing the close process, and be a key contributor to the integration of new accounting software. Responsibilities will include managing a team in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows; preparing key close and reporting schedules on a monthly and quarterly basis; and supporting and improving the reporting and consolidation process. The individual will also assist with the integration and consolidation of new markets and newly acquired businesses. Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter who is highly organized with great attention to detail and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
CORE JOB DUTIES
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of 3+ consolidations and financial reporting professionals
- Lead the preparation of the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows, ensuring proper presentation supported by detailed analysis of underlying data and technical accounting research
- Review and manage the preparation of key close and reporting schedules on a monthly and quarterly basis
- Oversee the monthly consolidation of financial results and review intercompany elimination entries, while maintaining thorough and detailed documentation
- Review consolidation journal entries on a monthly basis
- Improve, automate and expand system reporting and functionality
- Ensure validation between the BPC consolidation system and source data with timely resolution of discrepancies and variances
- Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, including the creation of close calendars, leading status meetings and providing updates to management
- Manage, own, and maintain multiple ledgers and hierarchies for reporting at different levels, working with stakeholders on key projects in these areas (tax trial balances, legal entity reporting, legal entity rationalization projects, changes in hierarchy structure, etc.)
- Manage the preparation of a monthly and quarterly reporting package including Adjusted EBITDA, analytics and supporting schedules
- Assist with the financial integration and consolidation of new markets and newly acquired business and pro forma reporting
- Review of financial results, investigating and resolving unusual balances on a monthly basis and ad hoc as needed
- Find and implement solutions to complex reporting challenges
- Review of debt covenant calculation and compliance certificates, along with supporting the Treasury and Compliance teams with any ad hoc financial requests from the lenders
- Coordinate and serve as a liaison with external auditors and timely provide appropriate audit deliverables
- Participate and provide key insights in cross functional projects related to financial reporting
- Support and provide valuable insights for cross functional projects related to ERP and system implementations
- Drive continuous improvement in the consolidations and financial reporting process
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years accounting experience (public accounting, consolidation or financial reporting preferred)
- CPA required
- Experience managing a team of accounting and/or finance professionals required
- Experience with financial and reporting systems required (e.g., advanced user of MS Excel, Hyperion, BPC, Workday), and ability to work with large amounts of data
- Strong U.S. GAAP experience
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to balance multiple priorities and consistent follow through on assigned tasks
- Strong project management skills
- Strong presentation skills: ability to absorb and summarize complex and dissociated information
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently in a highly organized manner

Cronos Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting who will work within the Finance Department and report to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting. As the Senior Manager, Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for the US GAAP Financial Statements and related MD&A disclosures in a publicly traded environment. In addition, you will lead the preparation and deployment of standardized accounting policies across the Company’s operating segments. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, energetic and able to work as part of a team and at a fast pace.
The corporate Financial Reporting team is based out of downtown Toronto, Ontario (King/Bathurst). This position is expected to be performed remotely as a result of COVID-19 and could remain a remote position in full or in part subsequent to the resolution of the pandemic.
What you’ll be doing:
- SEC Reporting (10K’s, 10Q’s, Financial Statements and MD&A), including:
- Review of all notes to the financial statements and supporting documents prepared by direct reports
- Preparation of complex disclosures and workbooks, such as share-based compensation, statement of equity and EPS calculations, derivative fair value analysis, as well as business combinations and subsequent events (when applicable)
- Coordination and ownership of a complex matrix of report review, comment resolution, and relationship management, involving several teams of internal and external stakeholders
- Management of the audit and review engagements, inclusive of reviewing document request lists, ensuring delivery of all items on-time to an established standard of quality
- Coordination and detailed review of the global financial statement consolidation process
- Implement new financial reporting standards as required by US GAAP, including assessment of the impact on processes and internal controls, as well as any changes to business metrics
- Prepare and review technical accounting memos on transactions and initiatives, as well as existing applications of US GAAP in light of evolving industry practices and benchmarking
- Communicate new accounting standards and external developments in US GAAP, including delivering presentations as part of a regular company-wide US GAAP education program
- Oversee the tracking, review, and approval of all calculations and treasury directions associated with option exercises, in collaboration with Legal and Payroll specialists, as well as coordination of other equity transactions (forfeitures, RSUs, DSUs, Top-Up Rights, warrants)
- Be a primary source within Cronos for all technical accounting questions for issues that may arise from any aspect of the Business
- Manage and coach Financial Reporting team members, as well as acting as a technical resource and collaborative business partner to adjacent Finance team members
- Build and maintain accounting policies for the global Finance team
- Any ad-hoc reporting, analysis or business development initiatives as directed by the CFO, VP Controller, any member of the Senior Leadership Team or the Senior Director, Financial Reporting
You’ll need to have:
- CPA, CA or U.S. CPA Designation
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP including technical accounting and reporting requirements
- Solid technical skills with a minimum of 7 years of financial/corporate accounting experience, including auditing public companies (US GAAP and SEC reporting).
- Experience with external financial reporting of US publicly traded companies
- Ability to assess processes and systems to identify key control activities and identify and implement improvements to drive efficiencies
- Hands-on team player, able to interact professionally with all levels including staff outside of the Finance group and external auditors
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a finance team, develop staff, implement significant initiatives and drive toward exceptional performance
