POSITION TITLE: Payroll and Benefits Specialist
POSITION STATUS: Full Time Exempt (Salary)
POSITION RANGE OF PAY: $55,000- $65,000 per year
Job Description:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multiple entities as a member of the Human Resources team. This position is responsible for assisting with benefits administration, reconciliation, and reporting. This position works closely with the rest of the HR team, as well as interfacing with the accounting department and others within the organization. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, organized, and possess strong collaborative communication skills.
Core Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Process bi-weekly multi-entity payroll.
- Process one off payroll items.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Process off cycle payroll as needed (i.e. terminations or urgent pay issues).
- Understand proper taxation of various earnings and deductions.
- Assist Managers with timecard questions and issues.
- Maintain and setup garnishments and child support orders, confirm deductions.
- Maintain respect for employee privacy and keep confidentiality of wages and other privileged information.
- Maintain and document all payroll records.
- Assist accounting to record payroll to general ledger and assist with reconciliation as needed
- Point of contact for general payroll inquiries and issues.
- Reconcile benefit statements to enrollment data and accounting system.
- Work with Human Resources and Accounting to resolve benefit discrepancies.
- Request and document spouse and dependent certifications for all life change events and new hires.
- Assist and act as backup with the management of leaves of absence, workers comp administration and UI claims administration.
- Responsible for reviewing and assisting with employee benefit compliance including leave of absence, worker's compensation reporting, etc.
- Maintain organized electronic employee files for all entities ensuring compliance standards.
- Shoes for crews ordering, tracking, and reporting.
- Retail HR Support – Order, distribute and ensure all compliance notices are updated and posted as required by federal guidelines.
- Ensure the service provided by the Payroll and Benefits division of the HR department emulates a supportive business partnership, excellent internal customer service, and alignment with company culture.
- Other HR, Payroll, and Benefits related projects as assigned by Total Rewards Manager (assist with yearly open enrollment, yearly eligibility review, I-9 audits etc.)
