This position will report to the VP of Customer Success and must have the following qualifications:
Packaging sales experience is a must, additional experience with CPG, Wine & Spirits or Cannabis industries are a plus.
A passion for new and experimental packaging.
Strong interpersonal skills, a persuasive nature and an aptitude for selling.
No-ego; can-do, roll-up-the-sleeves attitude that instills confidence through collaboration and influencing.
Entrepreneurial attitude with a high level of energy and drive; passionate about making an impact.

We are looking for a Merchant Director who will join our Marketing team in our Vancouver, WA or Columbus, Ohio offices. We are open for remote work but must be able to be drivable to corporate location for meetings when necessary.
This is a NEW role which will be the lead individual responsible for managing Hawthorne’s Distributed (Branded) Vendors via owning the direct relationship with the vendors and collaborating with the Category Team on execution against the strategic priorities for the Hawthorne business.
Every day you will:
Own responsibility for the Vendor Management (Exclusive & Distributed Brands across multiple categories) function within the Hawthorne portfolio.
Be a critical team member of the Category/Brand function, partnering with our Category Business Leads to understand the Strategic Plans within the Category and then implement a Vendor Management approach that supports these plans.
Developing a formalized Hawthorne approach for managing Vendor relationships & delivery of key metrics within respective categories.
Manage and lead direct report(s).
To Thrive in this role, you must have:
Developed and manage an Annual “Line Review” process to evaluate a Vendor’s existing portfolio, discuss business improvement practices, and align on future planning.
Owned metric delivery (revenue, margin %, and inventory $ targets) across vendor group.
Collaborated with vendors on planning & execution across Innovation, Marketing, and Sales / Training programs.

Managed innovation pipeline for vendors, collaborating with Category Team on new product setup & activation.
Managed Marketing planning & activation
Manage price changes, SKU level changes, vendor data updates
Facilitate Sales Training & Communication
Identify new vendors, and collaborate with Category Leads to make selections, to support Category portfolio assortment priorities and financial metrics.
Optimization of existing portfolio assortment with focus on identifying gaps and redundancies to align on a streamlined metric-based productive sku assortment.
Collaborated with Procurement function on responsibilities including Contract development/management, inventory & supply metrics, payment terms, etc.
Managed stocking and vendor inventory planning alongside Purchasing during monthly S&OP meetings, including seasonal changes, stockouts, runouts, etc.
10+ years of experience in vendor management, retail merchandiser / buyer roles, sales, business/brand management, and/or category management.
