Position Summary: The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing multi-state purchasing operations for the organization, including manufacturing, dispensaries, and corporate headquarters. This individual supervises purchasing programs to ensure maximum utilization of services and equipment. The Purchasing Manager must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for negotiation with vendors.
Essential Functions:
- Manages sourcing and procurement of all products, supplies, equipment, services, and materials for all locations in accordance with company purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions
- Negotiates with vendors to establish competitive pricing; tracks vendor performance and partners with receiving to ensure timeline receipt of product
- Coordinates with department management to inform procurement plan to meet production needs and inventory levels; ensures all purchases meet company guidelines
- Resolves supplier issues that arise in relation to delivery dates, quality, specifications, quantity, or cost of purchased goods or services in a timely fashion
- Reviews invoices not in complete agreement with purchase orders and works with the Supply Chain Manager and Accounting to determine errors and corrections
- Assists with data compilation and tracking and reporting of key performance measures for Supply Chain Manager
- Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvement, including vendor relations, turnaround time, price sourcing, and volume discounts
- Supports in managing all capital projects organization, under direct supervision of the business unit leader, and coordinates across the organization to ensure budget and schedule are met
- Takes the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3 - 5 years of experience with purchasing, negotiation, and budgeting required, preferably in a manufacturing, agricultural, or cannabis setting
- 1 – 3 years of leadership experience preferred
- SAP or other ERP software experience required
- Must be an Excel power user, including skill with pivot tables
- Basic Office 365 skills required
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle
- Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations

What you'll do
Develop brand positioning, brand essence, and brand identity for Altria's new employment brand.
