The Botanist, an Acreage Holdings Company, is a state-licensed marijuana facility that services licensed medical marijuana patients in the State of Connecticut. As a Security Officer, you have the opportunity provide security & administrative support to the team with the goal of providing a standard of excellence in guiding patients to improve their quality of life while helping relieve their symptoms.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Monitor access in and out of the dispensary, helping dispensary staff control access to the facility in accordance with State Rules and Regulations by following a strict check-in process, and actively monitoring physical security around the site
- Assist dispensary staff with controlling access to facility by ID examination and verification
- Protect company and customer information in accordance with policies/procedures
- Engage in de-escalation techniques to assist with patient and customer disputes
- In the event of emergency, secure staff, visitors, and building; act as liaison with local police or law enforcement
- Monitor security cameras
- Greet and check-in patients in a professional, pleasant and courteous manner, as well as schedule consultation appointments for patients through our online scheduling system.
- Delegate and communicate patient needs swiftly to dispensary staff to ensure prompt resolution.
- Responsible for taking incoming calls, checking voicemails, and distributing messages to appropriate personnel. Returning phone calls in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that the dispensary is kept clean and organized for patients and staff.
- Understand and maintain compliance with all state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures
- Assist with Administrative & Reception tasks as needed including;
- Building and maintaining patient profiles in our dispensing software system (BioTrack), which includes creation of profiles, updating patient information when necessary, and scanning required documentation
- Patient enrollment assistance through the state registration website (Biznet).
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience de-escalating challenging situations
- 2+ years’ experience in private or public security, law enforcement, or other governmental security agencies (Preferred, not required)
- Ability to pass a State mandated background check
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining calm with a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize needs in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with employees, patients and general public.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
Computers and Technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Ability to learn, navigate and accurately utilize the company’s Point of Sale & Patient data management software systems
- Familiarity with Google Forms is a plus

- Have a full comprehension of the different components of cannabis, including cannabinoids and terpenes, and how these compounds interact with the endogenous cannabinoid system.
- Able to interpret laboratory results for cannabis products sold; able to use this information to recommend appropriate products to patients.
- Conduct patient consultations in a professional, empathetic manner that will include a:
- Review of a patient's diagnosis and symptoms associated with that diagnosis
- Review of a patient's other health conditions, if applicable
- Monitoring for potential drug interactions and provide counseling/guidance if appropriate
- Check with a patient's previous experience with cannabis-based medicines
- Discussion about the risks and benefits of marijuana use
- Review of the different modes of delivery
- Brief discussion about the components of cannabis to the patient.
- Recommend appropriate products with appropriate dosing based on the information provided by the patient, caregiver and/or physician.
- Follow up with patients via phone conversations and electronic means to document symptom relief, medication changes, optimal dosing, and medication changes.
- Provide specific training to appropriate staff members.
- Be involved in outreach efforts to market the company and provide accurate information to (but not limited to):
- Community groups
- Patient-support groups
- Providers and healthcare networks
- Universities and colleges
- Be open and available to conduct research projects with different entities, if compliant with all state regulations.
- Complete at least one hour of continuing education yearly that encompasses cannabis medicine.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Active pharmacist license, in good standing, from the State of Connecticut
- Able to gain access to the Connecticut's Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
- At least one year of managerial experience.
- Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the immediate supervision the Dispensary Technician Manager, the Inventory/Dispensary Technician Hybrid will be responsible for both the oversight and control of cannabis inventory within the dispensary in addition to dispensing of cannabis products to patients.

- Assists the Inventory Manager and Dispensary Manager with ordering cannabis inventory several times throughout the week
- Serves as a resource for dispensary staff concerning inventory and storage in the vault rooms

Connecticut MD or DO licensed with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Must also possess an active controlled substances registration issued by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that is not subject to limitation, and possess an active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) controlled substance registration that is not subject to limitation. Finally, must be registered with the Connecticut Prescription Monitoring Program.
Also wants to work part time or full time from their medical or home office, (or between their patients), talking to patients about the benefits of medical cannabis. We prefer a doctor or someone who understands the benefits of medical marijuana. You will receive a payout per approved patient that you certify and we handle all of the scheduling, patient intake, advertising, and mediation on your behalf.
These appointments will be scheduled at your convenience and take less than 15 minutes usually.
