As the controller you must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. You will play a vital role in our company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with the law and accuracy in accounting through performing general financial transactions, monitoring bookkeeping activities and conducting regular audits to make sure documents, expenditures and investments are accurate. To be successful in this role, you’ll have in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping, payroll auditing and budgeting procedures. You should also be able to monitor daily transactions and recommend ways we can improve our financial health.
Responsibilities:
- Internal Financial Statement preparation including Balance Sheet & Income Statement
- Variance Analysis and commentary for monthly financials as well as budget and forecasting
- Prepare monthly Journal entries including accruals and reoccurring entries
- Deposit and reconcile cash consistently
- Manage and report on cash flow
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Provide oversight on invoicing and billing process
- Run Internal payroll
- Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Maintain and update procedures as they relate to the home office including annual business License renewal, personal property review, monthly filing of excise taxes etc.
- Assist in improving and documenting processes
- Manage an offshore team to support invoicing and A/R
- Provide external users with relevant financial information
- Manage professional relationships with bankers and brokers
- Any additional requests needed as related to corporate financials
Requirements:
- BA/BS Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles with significant financial statement preparation experience
- High level/advanced Excel skill is a must
- Strong analytical, interpretation skills and attention to detail
- Strong financial analysis experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
- Ability to set own priorities and to manage own time to meet deadlines
- Ability to work accurately at a fast pace
- Ability to multitask and streamline processes
- Ideal candidate will be motivated, self?starter, detail oriented and responsive to deadlines
- Ability to take direction and find solutions
- Xero and XPM knowledge a plus

GPL Tax and Accounting is looking for an Internal Controller to join our team in Kirkland, WA office.
The ideal controller candidate must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The role requires at least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. Previous experience in internal accounting roles is a plus.
The controller provides all of the services of a Full Charge Bookkeeper including the complete reconciliation of the full Balance Sheet. This includes the transactional entries of sales, accounts receivable, payments and deposits, bills, bill payments, and accounts payable, payroll journal entries, state excise filings and bank reconciliation procedures.
