Position Overview:
The Security-Compliance Team Member/Greeter is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for Terps customers through awareness of Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission guidelines and an actively engaged comportment with customers, staff and their environment. Be able to conduct interactions with an upbeat and informed approach with the customers prioritizing safety, security and accountability. Conduct and implement physical security measures consistent with local and state regulations to ensure compliance with all Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission requirements. All Security Team Member positions within the dispensary will be overseen by the dispensary management team as well as the VP of Security Operations & Compliance.
- Complete all necessary initial and ongoing training which includes attending meetings and other educational seminars
- Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Terps Cannabis Dispensary’s
- Be respectful and inclusive of all customers and co-workers
- Maintain a calm demeanor and posture during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating at Terps company standards and set a positive example for customers and staff.
- Follows and ensures team compliance with Terps operational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and customers during each shift
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Greets customers upon entry with friendly and welcoming demeanor
- Follows health, safety and regulatory guidelines
- Make security checks in and around dispensary grounds to detect, deter and disperse any loitering.
- Monitor and operate closed circuit video surveillance system
- Be able to communicate via 2-way radio to receive and acknowledge messages and instructions.
- Inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points;
- Protecting Terps customers, staff and property by maintaining a safe and secure environment in observance of crime or disorder and reporting promptly to the local police.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; Prohibit trespassers from entering or remaining on the premises through verbal direction and police notification.
- Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
- Report in detail any suspicious incidents

- Continue to develop cannabis knowledge through 8 hours of annual training via Terps training courses
- Hold safety, security and cleanliness to a high standard when interacting with customers and co-workers
- Utilizing AI assisted devices, gain positive identification of those who enter the dispensary
- Make security checks in and around dispensary grounds to detect, deter and disperse any loitering.
- Be able to communicate vie 2-way radio to receive and acknowledge messages and instructions.
- Ensure that all customers are greeted and acknowledged immediately upon entry to the sales area
- Write reports for any an all incidents as required in a timely manner. Count tender precisely and provide accurate change
- Keep supervisor(s) and managers informed at all times of any issues related to safety or operational effectiveness.
- Fulfill all cleaning, facility maintenance, and side work as assigned
- Support management with various administrative and miscellaneous duties when assigned
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-year Security experience
- 1 year of Retail experience (preferred but not required)
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the US
- Must be able to pass all background checks required by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission
- General knowledge of safety and security principles and willing to grow that knowledge within the cannabis industry.
- Excellent verbal/ written communication and listening skills
- Microsoft Office experience
- Must be an energetic, positive and enthusiastic team player
