JOB SUMMARY
The International Logistics & Customs Specialist provides support to the Logistics Department. The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day management of the international logistics function, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely management of international imports/exports.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform various administrative tasks within export and import functions.
- Prepare Bill of Ladings for all export orders upon shipping
- Obtain and edit Proforma and Commercial Invoices for customs clearances
- Print packing slips and other required shipping documents needed for international shipments
- Submit shipping instructions and export documents to forwarders
- Contact freight forwarders and carriers for shipments and delivery schedule through phone or email
- Input and oversee shipment deliveries within TMS Systems (URoute)
- Provides day to day shipment tracking for both import and export shipments through spread sheets
- Monitor shipments tracked through GPS and temperature reporting systems to ensure required temperature and ETAs
- Responds to afterhours support request as assigned to process and complete export shipments
- Monitor and reconcile product discrepancies within intercompany shipments
- Schedule international small parcel pick-ups and deliveries
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years of related experience, preferably in international transportation/logistics/shipping
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite, specifically Excel/Sheets and Outlook/Gmail

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for an individual with a strong skillset in entity types, tax planning, capital fundraising, and management accounting to take on the role of our Cannabis Team Lead.
The Cannabis Team Lead works with cannabis companies with $2MM and higher annual sales and provides a variety of financial consulting services encompassing traditional financial and accounting responsibilities.
This is currently a part-time role that will expand into full-time as we continue to grow the practice. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, entrepreneurial-driven, client-focused, and is an expert accountant. You have a strong background in finance, accounting, entity planning, and client service.
You will give a high degree of autonomy and will be asked to exercise a high degree of professional judgment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cannabis Team Lead will have (but are not limited to) the following primary responsibilities:
80% Client Focused
- Lead all business consultations with new clients (areas of focus include entity structuring, 280e planning, and cannabis compliance)
- Develop a thorough understanding of the client’s business and culture to better support the client’s strategic objectives
- Consult with clients on an ad hoc basis according to their questions and needs
- Perform on-going client check-ins to assure that the work performed is meeting expectations
- Provide finished work products/reports that meets or exceeds client expectations
- Ensure a level of customer service that meets or exceeds expectations
- Oversee the billing, collections, and profitability of the engagements, which will gauge your ability to assure company success
- Provide guidance to specialists assigned to matters you are overseeing
- Review work product and direct any necessary adjustments or corrections
- Assure a high level of quality of finished reports and services rendered
- Assure that the engagements are halted for fee holds or other pertinent circumstances
10% Leadership Focused and Entrepreneurial Minded
- Provide strategic direction for client work
- Supervise project teams (multiple clients at once)/Lead client engagements
- Effectively communicate project objectives and status to team members
- Continually improve internal processes
- Develop, document, and execute work/project plan while meeting agreed upon deadlines and commitments
- Manage day-to-day project activities
- Prepare, delegate if appropriate, and review client deliverables
- Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities in a timely manner (e.g. Timesheet and expense report submission, response to email and voice-mail, forecasting of upcoming availability)
- Assist, coach, train, and manage lower-level accountants, as required
10% Business Development
- Acquire and share knowledge of current Miod offerings with clients and networks
- Identify and value add opportunities and effectively exploit
- Build and expand positive client relationships and identify new opportunities
- Actively participate in sales activities and assist in proposal development, as requested
- Coach and mentor others to find and nurture business development opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational
- Accounting or Finance bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Professional certification such as CMA or CPA preferred
Leadership
- 5+ years of experience managing a team required
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate a staff of 5-10 individuals
- You believe in personal and professional development and are ready to lead and inspire a team
- Comprehensive, strong communication and business partnering skills
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- You are a team player and are passionate about exuding positive energy
Technical
- 7+ years of consulting experience preferred
- You are committed to client service and adding value
- You are solution-oriented, a problem solver, and unafraid to tackle complex, ambiguous problems
- You are self-motivated, have excellent organization, and love to meet project deliverables
- You are analytical and have excellent decision-making and research skills
- Previous experience developing a multi-entity, multi-location, multiple project line businesses, exposure to accounting system implementations, inventory management, and cost accounting
- Controller or CFO work experience
