SUMMARY:
The IPM Team Lead provides organic integrated pest and disease management services, identifies the cause, and implements the appropriate organic IPM strategy for our greenhouse operations. The incumbent will focus on long-term pest and disease prevention, eradication, and damage control. The incumbent collaborates on the application and oversight, recordkeeping, and reporting ensuring compliance and operation within the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) requirement for cannabis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with the operations and cultivation management team to implement IPM strategy by identifying and mitigating potential risks to crop production as well as verification of pests and disease infestation trends.
- In collaboration with the Cultivation Director, adjusts treatment program to precisely target pets when they emerge.
- Collaborates and communicates clearly and effectively with all cultivation staff to ensure the spray and drench applications do not disrupt routine cultivation operation.
- Organizes and performs weekly pest and disease scouting; promptly reports quality concerns and monitors pest and disease management tasks.
- Develops a comprehensive Integrated Pest Management plan for the facility using approved pesticides, beneficial insects, and biocontrol agents.
- Partners with compliance to ensure organic IPM strategy meets regulatory standards.
- Generates and updates all organic IPM schedules and provides them to Director of Cultivation.
- Coordinates and executes spray according to the decision made by all members of the cultivation management team.
- Oversees experimental IPM trials, soil, water, and plant tissue sampling.
- Maintains up-to-date records for state regulations to detail pesticide logs and any other IPM products used, including SDS sheets.
- Ensures that proper REI notifications are disseminated to the facility and posted where appropriate.
- Manages the cleaning and routine maintenance of all application equipment and sprayers.
- Manages and trains a team of IPM technicians that will be responsible for applying all compounds in a safe effective manner.
- Maintains weekly pesticide usage log and submits weekly inventory needs to the Purchasing Coordinator.
- Submits PUR reports to Monterey County by the 10th of each month and is the point of contact for all Ag. Commissioner inspections.

- Must have a basic understanding of cannabis laws, rules, and regulations set forth by the state and local authorities.
- Ability to be flexible and work in various sectors of the department as needed and/or requested by their direct supervisor; this may include but is not limited to, helping other departments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, some bending/crouching, stooping, stretching, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
- Must be able to stand for extended periods while maintaining focus.
- Must be able to detect product issues, such as spider mite, powdery mildew, and/or botrytis.
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to stock or bring the product down from storage or racks and maintain the cultivation process.
- Must be able to be fit tested for the use of full-face respirators; respirators will be used when mixing and applying chemicals.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with plants and products.
- Work is performed inside greenhouse facilities exposed to temperatures ranging above a constant 75°F.
- Work is subject to weather conditions, including rain and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
- May require working rotating shifts with varied hours/day, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; some college or college graduate preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years with organic pest and disease control and management is required, preferably in an agricultural environment
- Must be familiar with various controls including, biological, cultural, mechanical & physical controls, chemical control
- Hold a Pesticide Applicator License in the State of California
- Previous experience in a licensed cannabis production facility preferred.
