Position Summary/Objective
The Greenhouse Cultivation Manager (GCM) works alongside the Operations Cultivation Manager (OCM) to ensure efficient and effective management of a ~50,000 square foot greenhouse operation. The GCM is responsible for maintaining environmental targets in all grow zones via programming of the Priva automation system; optimizing irrigation at all growth stages; implementing and executing the IPM program; assisting the Facilities team with maintenance of all mechanical components in the greenhouse; coordinating all aspects of commercial-scale greenhouse growing to drive optimal crop health at all growth stages; and maintaining SOPs and other support documents for these functions. This set of responsibilities is focused on the growing environment and crop health and allows the GCM to be focused on these specific goals. The OCM will work hand-in-hand with the GCM and will be responsible for developing and implementing the production planning; scheduling and directing all labor activities including propagation, transplanting, pruning, and harvesting; training all employees; and maintaining SOPs and other support documents for these functions.
The GCM ensures that the facility produces superior quality crops in the most succinct timeline possible. In order of magnitude, the GCM operates the facility according to the legal requirements of local and state authorities; then to the operating directives set forth by Standard Operating Procedures and the officers of the company; then to the ability to conduct workflow in observation of each departments' strengths and weaknesses. The GCM, in different but specific ways, is responsible for implementing best practices in irrigation, IPM, environmental manipulation, facility maintenance, sanitization, and record retention.
We are seeking a passionate, driven, detail oriented and collaborative GCM to provide strategic leadership, direction, and support to the company's Pennsylvania market to maximize Ethos PA's sales, margin, and profit. The ideal candidate has the ability to adapt to our business model and has demonstrated leadership experience. Previous commercial greenhouse cultivation experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Daily review of environmental conditions and subsequent manipulation of all greenhouse systems through Priva to hit desired targets based on crop stage
- Monitoring and programming irrigation systems throughout the greenhouse to optimize root and crop health
- Lead all IPM efforts including scouting, deployment of BCAs, scheduling of pesticide applications, documentation of all actions, and refining preventative and curative actions
- Designing all training requirements within their department
- Reviewing all checklists, logs, and documentation generated within the department
- Conducting all daily/scheduled meetings and interviews
- Equipment and material procurement
- Administrative, corrective, and reconciliatory functions
- Perform employee evaluations for each department with relevant managers
- Review of standard operating procedures yearly
- Interface with all other divisions of the company
- Reports to the Vice President of Cultivation
Qualifications
Required Experience, Education and Skills:
- A high degree of familiarity and aptitude in closed or semi-closed greenhouses programming, operating, and maintaining Priva (or comparable controls platforms), automated & recirculating irrigation systems, fog systems, LED lighting, blackout & shade curtains, and mechanical cooling and dehumidification systems
- Cannabis cultivation experience preferred but not required
- Certification(s)/education in agricultural, horticultural, or botanical practices
- Previous experience with Priva, inventory software, Excel, and Google spreadsheets
Other Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older to apply

- Extended time sitting, walking, bending, and reaching is possible
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds for a distance of 100 feet

We are looking for a Greenhouse Cultivation Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the technical functions of the greenhouse, head house, and controls equipment within C3 Industries' greenhouse facility. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to product quality & yields, management, and leadership of cultivation team. This position is located in Webberville, MI, and experience working with the Argus Control Systems is required.
In this role you will...
- Consistently report cultivation updates, production issues, pestilence, staffing updates, and harvest weights to VP of Cultivation, upper management, and cross functional facility teams.
- Proactively identify issues to maintain better functionality of the Argus system, mother and clone room mechanicals, facility hardware, RO system, boiler system, and control system.
- Collaborates with VP and Assistant Cultivation Manager to provide feedback regarding Argus fertigation programs for all stages of cannabis cultivation to continuously improve overall production and plant health.
- Maintain communication with Argus for product improvement and software updates.
- Coordinate with the facility maintenance team and Director of Operations to address maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with VP, Director of Operations, and Facility maintenance team on HIPPO software to ensure proper maintenance of all greenhouse mechanical systems.
- Develop and maintain current SOPs for the oversite, training, and function of the greenhouse and all components
- Coordinate weekly meetings with Supervisors, and VP to discuss fertilizer programs, irrigation schedules, mechanical issues, lighting schedules, staff training, and cultivation and team impacts.
- Collect, compile, analyze, and report on facility and yield data, deliver detailed reports and suggestions for improvement.
- Manage the performance of Cultivation team by coaching team members, providing feedback and discipline to employees and using support as appropriate.
- Maintain high employee morale and positive relationships, and coach team members to conduct themselves consistently with the company values, policies, and other standards of conduct.
- Maintain compliance with state regulations and enforce company policies and SOPs.
- Ensure the implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures and ensure all quality standards are adhered to.
Skills and experience you have...
- 5+ years' experience as a facility manager overseeing large-scale greenhouse production; BS in horticulture or another relevant field preferred.
- 2+ years' experience working with Argus Control Systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience leading a growing team that fosters a people-first, success-oriented, accountable environment.
- Experience establishing, tracking, and reporting on KPI's; ability to drive performance improvements.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build partnerships across functions.
- Proven ability to establish strong credibility, build relationships, and operate in a highly fluid industry environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately.
- Must be able to work holidays, nights, and weekends; and cover, as needed, based on staffing levels
- Must be at least 21 years of age able to pass a background check and obtain state-specific licenses.
