Purpose
The Cultivation Technician II - Packaging Technician position is responsible for executing their daily role within the Packaging department at an effective pace with accuracy to achieve the weekly objectives to package dried cannabis product appropriately. This position must fulfill their role with efficient productivity and accuracy, and participate in their job with professionalism and safety, consistently. The Packaging Technician of Packaging will report to the Lead of Packaging and Supervisor of Packaging.
Essential Duties
Procedures & Tasks
- Supporting the Lead and Supervisor of Packaging to package dried cannabis product appropriately. Fulfilling daily and weekly objectives that have been instructed and trained by Supervisorership, such as, packaging pre-pack and shelf flower product, creating and packaging joints and blunts, confirming the accuracy of the packaging, and assisting with order fulfillment for product exporting.
- Operating with equipment and machinery to package dried cannabis product as instructed and trained, safely. Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and machinery to sustain longevity and performance.
- Executing objectives to achieve desired quality and consistently throughout assignment.
- Organization and reporting data entries to spreadsheets and log as instructed. Ensuring accurate and legible logging of a variety of spreadsheets and labels.
- Properly achieving packaging objectives to maintain quotas based on instruction from leadership. Work in a timely manner and strive to increase productivity. Meet daily quotas.
- Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to assisting other departments to help facilitate the additional and/or supplemental work, such as, Post Harvest dept tasks, Production dept tasks, cleaning, and light maintenance as needed throughout the facility.
Training Requirements
- This position will follow the direction and training by the Supervisors of Packaging and Manager of Packaging assigned to the Holliston, MA cultivation facility. The role is expected to engage in proactive participation to be able to achieve the high standard cultivation practices, consistently and compliant.
- Training towards PharmaCann's mission statement and leadership development.
- Understanding how to compliantly operate within the cultivation based on the state laws and regulations.
Workspace and Material Maintenance
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance on work surfaces, tools, and related equipment (scissors,
- table, floors etc.).
- Contribute to instructed cleaning, sanitizing, and organization in the Processing department areas. Contribute and show support to associates with a safe, well maintained, and organized work area.
- After use of equipment or supply, follow through with cleaning and organizing SOPs.
Compliance and Reporting
- This role involves final packaging checks to ensure product leaving the facility is compliant. Follow company instructions to ensure accuracy consistently within the role.
- Follow all instructed state and federal compliance regulations.
- Report any improper action of compliance regulations.
- Following instructed procedures will maintain compliance and safety. Any compliance or safety mistake or error created must be reported to the Supervisorership of the department.
- Reporting data input as instructed for METRC plant tags.
Supervision
- Works under the direct supervision of the Supervisors of Packaging and Manager of Packaging.
Job Requirement
- This position is expected to be available as needed to adherir to the responsibilities within and throughout the job description.
- Must be eligible for the position based on state and federal laws and regulations.
Working Conditions
- Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing and warehouse environment. This position is part of a fast paced environment.
- Working in proper PPE at all times of scheduled shift to sustain GMP model certification.
- Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
- Able to lift and move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Consistent on-time attendance for all scheduled shifts. Prepared for full 40 hour week working scheduled shifts with occasional overtime shifts to complete daily and weekly objectives
Job Qualifications
Work Experience
- Preferred 3 months employment with the company to apply.
- Preferred commercial cannabis and/or packaging experience for 1 year.
- One year of work experience in a related industry or work environment.
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment preferred.

As a Cultivation Packaging Technician, you will work efficiently to package and prepare product. While creating minimal waste, resulting in a high-quality product that is compliant and ready for sale or processing. Cleaning and harvest activities will require the help of all hands on various days. As an employee of Ascension, you will be responsible for upholding and remaining within the guidance of the company’s standard operating procedures, operational guidelines, and direction.
Packaging
- Shredding select cultivars
- Sifting cannabis shake free of stem
- Sifting cannabis flower free of shake
- Sorting and sifting cannabis flowers by grade
- Examining flower to ensure quality standards are met
- Hand package shake into proper container size with accuracy weighing to the x.xx decimal
- Hand package flower into proper container size with accuracy weighing to the x.xx decimal
- Focusing on detail-oriented packaging, ensuring no stems or seeds in the final product
- Track the amount of unusable waste for each plant/batch, in addition to usable by-products
- Properly label each container
- Vacuum seal packs of each container set of 10s and 25s
- Properly package product with minimal waste from product
- Pull new orders that has been prepared by manager
- Prepare and check order with manifest with product going out to match with invoice
- Ensure accuracy is met with product being pulled from inventory
Post-Harvest
- Preparing and hanging freshly cut branches for initial drying during harvest day
- Bucking/De-Nugging Cannabis from plant material
- Sit for long periods of time while focusing on detail-oriented fan removal of harvested plants
- Daily burping of product as needed to ensure quality always
Cleaning
- Cleaning is 70% of the work
- Cleaning of floors, including, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, shop vacuuming and dry mopping
- Trash removal of waste created in any room
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Cleaning of all equipment, totes, buckets, lids, chairs, brooms, scissors, pens, markers, racks, hangers, and screens
- Cleaning of scales, sifters, tables, stools, vacuum sealer, totes for deliveries and vault room floor
- Cleaning of flower room tables after working on
- Cleanliness of harvest area once harvest is complete
- Cleanliness of drying room and all areas worked
- Disinfecting facilities and equipment
