As a growing company, we are looking for a full-time Technical Support Specialist in our Bay City, Michigan facility.
REPORTS TO: IT & Systems Manager
Employees in this job assist with internal and external support requests and participate in a variety of IT/LIMS support duties. Work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge related to computer software, hardware, and troubleshooting.
- At the entry-level, the employee works in a learning capacity while performing a range of data maintaining assignments under close supervision.
- At the intermediate level, the employee works in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of data maintaining assignments.
- At the experienced level, the employee performs a full range of data maintaining assignments and IT responsibilities as applicable. While using considerable judgment in making decisions requiring the interpretation and application of guidelines with considerable latitude to specific work situations.
NOTE: Employees generally progress through this series to the experienced level based on satisfactory performance and possession of the required experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fields support calls, chat, email, and/or other communication from users with inquiries regarding software, connectivity, printing, and similar concerns; manages internal/external support requests using an internal ticketing system.
- Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems.
- Records sample collection information to the Laboratory Information Monitoring System (LIMS) from the field sample collection.
- Familiarity/compliance with the chain-of-custody process.
- Assists with maintaining result data from the laboratory instrumentation to the LIMS system.
- Assists with the initial review of samples.
- Assists with ensuring test results are delivered through the LIMS and METRC systems to clients, government agencies, and other involved or mandated parties.
- Keeps informed of new laboratory techniques and workflows to best support requests.
- Assists with maintenance of laboratory records and documentation.
- Assists clients, government agencies, and other involved or mandated parties with requests related to laboratory testing or results.
- Assists with meeting accreditation requirements.
- Assists with research or inquiries as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Laboratory Science or relative experience.
- Familiarity with data entry and throughput.
- Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory processes.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE:

- Assisting scientific staff with ensuring test results are reported through the laboratory information management system to clients, government agencies and other involved or mandated parties.
- Assisting with maintenance of laboratory records and documentation.
- Assisting clients, government agencies and other involved or mandated parties with requests related to laboratory testing or results.
- Assisting with meeting accreditation requirements.
- Assisting with research or inquiries as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of high school diploma or relative Military experience.
- One years’ experience in an analytical or academic laboratory setting and/or two years' experience in cannabis industry.

REPORTS TO: Laboratory Director
The mission of Viridis North is to ensure health and safety within the cannabis industry by testing cannabis products for potency and purity; and to report results of this testing to consumers, manufacturers and regulatory agencies. As a growing company, we are looking for a full-time Laboratory Supervisor our facility located in the Bay City, Michigan area. Michigan is a medical-marijuana state. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm, with occasional weekend work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Laboratory Director with maintaining sample throughput and laboratory workflow.
- Assist the Laboratory Director and Chief Science Officer with maintaining analytical and regulatory requirements for State of Michigan-required cannabis testing on various instrument platforms.
- Assist and direct scientists and technicians with daily workflow.
- Interact with Field Team management to maintain sample volume and customer expectations
- Delegation of daily operational tasks to staff as appropriate.
- Preparation and analysis of samples as needed.
- Production of reagents, mobile phases, calibrators, and controls as needed
- Operation and troubleshooting of instruments as needed
- Data review and reporting
- Tracking of sample progress through the workflow, ensuring result completion in a timely fashion
- Relaying operational issues and staff needs to laboratory director
- Customer contact and outreach as needed, including monitoring of results and accepting inquiries
- Interface with METRC as needed
- Assist Lab Director with maintaining QA/QC documentation for accreditation.
- Interact with IT staff as needed on LIS, METRC or result reporting issues.
- Training of new staff on sample preparation, instrument operation and review of data.
- Interacting with laboratory management and advising on laboratory needs and issues.
- Adherence to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of client information.
- Adherence to all established guidelines outlined in Viridis’ Playbook.
- Assists with staff hiring, performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
- Works in a leadership role with laboratory staff to ensure a positive work environment.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS degree in a laboratory science or equivalent relevant field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of chromatography/mass spectrometry
- Working knowledge of microbiology and testing instrumentation
- Method Development experience in chemistry, toxicology or microbiology
- Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
- Leadership and personal skills and abilities to deal with diverse individuals and personality types
