Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga, Iron, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, Alger, Delta, Schoolcraft, Luce, Mackinac, Chippewa, Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Montmorency, Alpena, Leelanau, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon.
The Regulation Agent may occasionally be asked to assist in other counties based on operational needs. Candidates will be selected for these openings in part based on their current home location.

This specialist functions as a Quality Control and Oversight Specialist within the Scientific Section, Division, Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). The specialist provides review of all incoming licensing applications for Safety Compliance Facilities (SCF) needing pre-licensure inspections in Michigan. Additionally provides specialist policy advice related to SCF operational requirements, accreditation standards for SCFs, and any relevant topics from the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA), Marihuana Tracking Act (MTA), and administrative rules.
Develops, implements, and oversees a SCF proficiency testing program. Is a specialist Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and CRA point of contact with industry and other government agencies regarding all matters related to SCFs. Conducts in-depth, on-site, inspections, and investigations related to SCFs of their assigned facilities. Conduct field investigations, investigative conferences, and interviews with involved parties and potential witnesses. Produces written investigative reports, containing all pertinent information using the CRA’s approved format and identify potential violations of the MMFLA, MRTMA, MTA, and/or administrative rules. Makes recommendations for closure, enforcement action, or specialist review, if warranted. Serves cease and desist orders or department issued sanctions to SCFs per CRA direction.

The primary purpose of this position is to protect the public by assuring that marijuana facilities seeking licensure meet the requirements with routine pre-licensure inspections and remain compliant with post licensure inspections as required by the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), Marihuana Tracking Act (MTA), Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA), or the associated administrative rules on a statewide basis. The primary duties will include, but not be limited to, inspecting and evaluating microbusinesses, growers, processors, provisioning centers, retailers, safety compliance facilities, and secure transporters to determine if they meet the requirements to conduct business in Michigan and remain in compliance. In addition, the Inspector will be responsible for providing technical assistance and consultation to assure compliance once the license is issued, provide follow-up inspections, and routine inspections. Extensive travel to these facilities and establishments statewide is involved.

Insurance Benefits: The State of Michigan offers health, dental, and vision insurance to career employees, their spouses, and their children. The state also provides a life-insurance benefit of two times their annual salary (up to $200,000) and long-term-disability insurance that can provide continuing benefits if an injury or illness prevents them from working.
Retirement Programs: The State of Michigan offers 401(k) and 457 plans for new hires to save for retirement. The state will automatically contribute an amount equal to 4% of your pay to a 401(k) account. The state will also match up to 5% of your pay if you contribute to your retirement accounts. Vacation and Sick Leave: Full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year. Eligible employees may also receive additional paid hours each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow parents needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Employees can receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July Fourth, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs: Employees receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases after working for the State of Michigan for five years. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if miliary pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay. Prior military service may also allow seniority credits to accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional leave accrual.
Tax-Advantaged Programs: In addition to 401(k) and 457 retirement accounts, the State of Michigan also offers Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA), and Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefit (QTFB) programs that can help you save money by reducing your taxable income.

Deferred Compensation
Employees may invest income in a tax-deferred retirement investment program. The state offers two optional deferred compensation plans, the 457 and 401(k). Employees decide the amount deducted from their paychecks.
Retirement
Employees receive a minimum 4% state contribution toward their retirement fund. If an employee elects to contribute more, the state will match up to 3%. The Office of Retirement Services administers two different retirement plans for State of Michigan employees: Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC). New hires can also receive up to a 2% employer match into a Personal Healthcare Fund and a lump-sum credit to a tax-deferred account if eligible. This position is a student position function that works with the Enforcement Division Director of the Cannabis Regulatory Agency. This position is responsible for assisting the Enforcement Director with administrative tasks, special projects, and assist other sections as needed within the division.
