You have or want to build subject matter expertise to help shape a healthier community for all. If this sounds like you, we invite you to apply for the Community Health Improvement Coordinator that focuses on improving the built environment (e.g., active transportation, parks, etc.). In this position you may also work on other prioritized strategic initiatives in chronic disease and injury and violence prevention selected in the community health assessment, community health improvement plan or other prioritization process. This position will learn to use policy, system, and environmental change methods to create upstream changes that forward high priority outcomes and increase health equity.

- Bachelor’s degree involving major study in public health, community health, health administration, psychology, sociology, social work, urban planning, or a related field appropriate for the position.
- Three (3) years of related work experience, at least 1 of which includes facilitating community groups and developing solutions to complex problems.

- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

This position works with external community partners and leaders to prevent child injuries and deaths. Under the program manager, this position facilitates the child fatality review process by analyzing cases of unexpected fatalities for children ages 0-17 in collaboration with representatives of other agencies including the medical examiner’s office, law enforcement, EMS, child protective services, and other relevant community members to determine commonalities. This position focuses on using information from the process to catalyze and facilitate community actions to protect children and prevent injuries and deaths through policy and systems changes.

Purpose: This is an entry level position and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Provides services and support to the Methadone Program as an observer of urine collection; packages urine samples for shipment; and performs Breath Analysis (BA) on clients. This position will also assist the Dispensary Nurses when needed. The Dispensary Assistant will have extensive interaction with a culturally diverse population of Health District clients and the general public to render services. This classification will work under general supervision with well-defined directives, instructions, and procedures. Work assignments are routine in nature.
- Completes client collection forms for UA/BA (urine analysis/breath analysis) samples.
- Observes UA/BA specimen sample collection
- Uses proper chain of custody techniques for handling and packaging urine samples for shipment.
- Accurately logs test results into client's files within specified timelines.
- Monitors clinic grounds for clients loitering and diversion of medication.
- Assists Dispensary Nurses when needed with restocking inventory and making sure dispensary doors are locked at end of clinic.
- Attends meetings and training workshops as needed.
- Enters data into various electronic systems as required for client files.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Six (6) months experience in one of the following: dealing with alcohol and/or drug dependent clients) preferred), working in a criminal justice environment or working in a medical environment.
Required Immunizations:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
