Rose City Labs is seeking a person who is excited to work in the scientific field. Must have a clean driving record this is a deal breaker !! Someone who is passionate about the Real Estate, construction, and the cannabis industry and passionate about customer relations. Most of all Fun and energetic ! You will be asked to start at the lab and end at the lab but will be traveling Oregon and Washington's beautiful roads sampling for our existing clients and could work from 4 hour up to 12 hours in one day. We hope to maintain a maximum of 40 hour work week but due to nature of job may require more than 40 hours. You may work when needed, maybe 12 hours one day, 4 hour another day, and off one day. Flexible Monday thru Friday.
Our testing services serve multiple industry's. Being able to service our clients in commercial and private sectors such as real estate, medical, and construction are key.
LIMS and Metrc experience is a plus
Training for AHERA building inspections, Radon measurements, Potable and waste water, and cannabis testing. It would be a bonus if applicant had training.

This team’s Lab Director utilizes management experience, technical background and chemistry and Microbiology knowledge alongside interpersonal skills to provide direction of day-to-day operations and as the laboratory moves forward.
The Lab Director is responsible for driving innovation, while keeping existing analyses running well, improving efficiency, and exploring new opportunities as they arise.
- Responsibilities and Duties *

Maintain current fields of accreditation with regular PT schedule.
Research, apply for, and receive new fields of accreditation.
Oversee day to day operations, ensuring existing work is completed on time, is accurate, and meets customer expectations.
Allocate employees to fill current workload. Work with HR to ensure staffing level is appropriate. Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Demonstrate confidence, including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness. Manage employee expectations and expectations for employees.
Develop, validate and document new analysis methods, requiring existing technical knowledge and ability to rapidly learn new fields.
Write laboratory standard operating procedures. Understand, adhere to, and help create quality system documents.
Experience with handling analytical issues associated with difficult matrices, such as cannabis concentrates and extracts.
Maintains large variety of analytical equipment and instruments in good operating condition. Recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed. Completes routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment.
Interface with representatives from laboratory vendors and associates. Maintain knowledge of the state of the art in analysis science.
Provides technical expertise and advises project representatives/teams (clients and internal teams) on topics pertaining to assay analysis and development. Presents findings and/or results to client and/or internal teams.
Accept samples, take payment from clients on weekends, etc. Analysis and reporting of samples, as needed by workload.
Oversee inventory management and ensure waste is handled appropriately. Tracking and monitoring of costs associated to identify areas for improved efficiency. Manage other laboratory assets, such as instruments as they age, vehicles, building exterior/interior, etc. Strong mechanical aptitude and “we can do it” attitude.
Responsible for increasing operational efficiency and decreasing run times. Ensuring the most benefit is obtained for the least effort, while maintaining the quality the laboratory is known for.
Ensure that all regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental, and documentation requirements and all other data generated by the laboratory team meets legal, ethical, and quality control requirements.
Serve as point of contact for regulatory bodies.
Prerequisites
Experience in analytical chemistry method development, including HPLC, GC, LC-MS, ICP-MS.
Experience troubleshooting and instrument maintenance.
Experience in cannabis analytical environment is not necessary but highly desirable.
Experience in an ORELAP or ISO: 17025 regulated environment.
Thorough understanding of analytical technology, method development, method qualification/validation, and regulatory analytical requirements.
Laboratory experience performing method development, qualification, and validation activities.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
Required: MUST meet both requirements, Chemistry and Microbiology/Biology
#1. “Any technical manager of an accredited environmental laboratory engaged in chemical analysis shall be a person with a bachelor’s degree in the chemical, environmental, biological sciences, physical sciences or engineering, with at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry and at least two (2) years experience in the environmental analysis of representative inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. A master’s or doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one(1) year of experience”

Rose City Laboratories is an ORELAP accredited Environmental laboratory and CLIA accredited in Portland, Oregon specializing in safety and quality assurance testing for the Cannabis, Hemp, Asbestos, Radon, and Clinical testing for drugs of abuse. We are a fast growing company positioned at the top of an emerging industry. As such we are seeking to fill new openings within the Laboratory for a Chemistry Lab Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain accreditation with regular PT schedule for all testing in the chemistry department.
HPLC, ICPMS, GCMS, LCMS method development experience required.
Proficiency in equipment maintenance and repairs.
Understand and follow quality system documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods.
Routine laboratory tasks such as chemical extractions, cleaning glassware and maintaining chemical inventory/ordering supplies as needed.
Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed the standards set by ISO/IEC 17025 and company requirements relevant to assigned duties.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
Maintain a neat and accurate record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis and as needed for quality control tests or regulatory purposes using both physical copies and electronic.
Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Maintain clean glassware and prepare solutions for use in the daily testing of samples.
Proficient in the use of basic laboratory hardware such as balances, syringes, and pipettes.
Knowlege of Asbestos testing procedures a major plus.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES:
a) Any technical manager of an accredited environmental laboratory engaged in chemical analysis shall be a person with a bachelor’s degree in the chemical, environmental, biological sciences, physical sciences or engineering, with at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry and at least two (2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of representative inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation. A master’s or doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
b) Any technical manager of an accredited environmental laboratory limited to inorganic chemical analysis, other than metals analysis, shall be a person with at least an earned associate's degree in the chemical, physical or environmental sciences, or two (2) years of equivalent and successful college education, with a minimum of sixteen (16) college semester credit hours in chemistry. In addition, such a person shall have at least two (2) years of experience performing such analysis.
