What will you do all day?
At NMSI, our people mean everything to us; they are the lifeblood of the organization. Without our staff, NMSI is just an idea. As a key member of the Program Department, the Senior Manager, District Sales & Cultivation will collaborate within both the District Sales & Cultivation team as well as the Programmatic Partnerships team to help shape and realize a nationwide school district sales and cultivation strategy. The Senior Manager, Cultivation will co-own setting and driving progress toward pod-level cultivation goals with Senior Program Managers.
The District Sales & Cultivation team grounds our goals, planning and day-to-day work in our District Sales & Cultivation strategy, which emphasizes expanding NMSI’s impact by aligning our sales and cultivation efforts with our mission.
What are the details?
Reporting to the Director, District Sales & Cultivation, the Senior Manager, Cultivation will demonstrate a commitment to NMSI’s mission, an ability to create relationships within communities that lead to programmatic partnerships, an interest in continually developing content knowledge about our academic strategy, self-awareness to know when you’re the expert or when to bring in someone else, leadership and influencing skills, ability to collaborate with others to achieve outcomes, project management, data analysis and exceptional communication and organizational skills.
While work will vary day to day, there are typical job responsibilities in this role:
District Sales & Cultivation Team Leadership
- Provide feedback on, implement, and adjust as needed, the district sales and cultivation strategy.
- Collaborate with Director, District Sales and Cultivation in setting team goals.
- Utilize and expand your network to share education trends from wide-ranging news sources and brainstorm responsive approaches
- Lead team brainstorming and problem-solving to both shape customer-centric sales and cultivation efforts, as well as internal development.
- Continually learn about our evolving academic strategy and how we can meet the needs of communities.
- Track team information in appropriate systems, utilize data to track progress to goals and adjust course where needed to meet or reset goals.
Regional Cultivation Pod & External Relationship Management
- Co-lead with Senior Program Managers implementing the strategy for your regional pod with a focus on expanding NMSI’s impact.
- Lead new community and district programmatic partner cultivation in assigned region.
- Balance strategic and opportunistic sales and cultivation opportunities to meet both team and pod goals.
- Strengthen and grow external networks in your region that lead to new partnerships and opportunities toward the goal of greater racial and socioeconomic diversity within STEM fields.
- Represent NMSI as the leader in providing STEM education and increased opportunity for student success for every school and every region we partner.
Equity & Inclusion
- Monitor cultivation efforts by socioeconomic status, race, and gender to spot gaps and disparities.
- Identify ways current cultivation and culture undermine equity and help determine path forward to improve equity and inclusion.
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with all teams in Development to ensure alignment of external messaging and marketing.
- Partner with Fundraising to collaborate on a community-centered approach to fundraising and programmatic partnerships.
- Partner with Teaching and Learning to both influence and understand ongoing development of services.
- Participate and contribute in cross-functional discussions, working groups and strategic meetings that directly impact the work of the Program Department, District Sales and Cultivation team, and NMSI as a whole.

Qualifications

Temporary Associate, Cultivation
National Math and Science Initiative
What do you do all day?
This Associate will report to the Manager, Military Families Mission, and play a critical role in ensuring educators and students have the information and materials they need to participate in high quality NMSI programs. This Associate will cultivate schools to participate in Laying the Foundation trainings as part of our Military Families Mission.
This is a temporary position that will end no later than August 28, 2020
What are the details?
- Assist with the cultivation of districts for LTF training including communication and follow-up with district and school personnel
- Oversee the submission and accuracy of all required documentation for newly enrolled schools (MOUs including data agreements
- Obtain agreements for teachers participating in the longitudinal study
- Create and maintain participant records to facilitate travel and the longitudinal study
- Record and communicate work progress on a weekly basis
- Complete other duties that contribute to organizational, team, or individual goals as assigned by the Military Families Mission Manager, Sr Director of Growth & Development, or VP of Growth & Development
- Other duties as assigned
