Role Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for applying their knowledge of topicals and food production and packaging in performing a broad range of duties related to the day-to-day operations and production of company products. This includes: the preparation of supplies, materials, and equipment; maintenance of equipment and facilities; store keeping functions; and proper and safe use of equipment and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate daily production plans, packaging, and maintenance of equipment related to production with Production Associates
- Follow and enforce all Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and attend training(s) on new procedures and equipment
- Ensure all pertinent information for manufactured products is recorded into daily production logs
- Provide input and encourage Production Associates to improve daily activities and efficiencies
- Prepare product packaging (sanitizing, drying, labeling, etc.) and assemble goods into final packaging
- Train and supervise Production Associates on how to prepare product packaging (sanitizing, drying, labeling, etc.) and assemble goods into final packaging
- Inspect and approve all finished products before sending on to inventory
- Responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, sanitizing, and properly storing production tools and equipment
- Instruct Production Associates on the set-up and usage of equipment; identify improper equipment use, taking corrective action and report equipment in need of repair
- Assist Production Associates with gathering an adequate supply of materials needed for daily production and following proper chain of custody procedures (documentation and security) for supplies and ingredients
- Enforce and maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA, GMP and GLP, ensuring proper ingredient storage and handling
- Perform basic food preparation to include: mixing, heating, chilling, cutting, and blending various ingredients in a timely fashion to meet daily production demands
- Work and communicate effectively with the Science Team to ensure proper dosage amounts and techniques along with troubleshooting and resolving production issues as needed
- Weigh oil for product medications and serve as a witness when necessary; train Production Associates as appropriate
- Demonstrate mid to advanced level knowledge and experience on multiple products.
- Mentor and train Production Associates
- Responsible for production room closing procedures in the absence of Production Supervisor
- Responsible for maintaining a tour friendly appearance in production rooms
- Properly dispose of garbage at shift end and/or as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities

Physical Demands
- Work with potentially dangerous tools, equipment and/or chemicals that could cause physical and/or health hazards if/when handled inappropriately
- Wear various safety gear such as goggles, masks, aprons, gloves, hairnets, etc. throughout work shift
- Lift up to 60 pounds, stand, bend and twist throughout shift

Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent and/or experience working in a commercial food prep kitchen
- Possess, or capable of obtaining a State Approved Food Handler Permit within 30 days of employment if applicable
- Current cannabis badging/license required by the state if applicable

Role Summary
To implement and manage local regulatory compliance as it relates to manufacturing, storage, and distribution facility operations in a particular region such as a state or country. This includes compliance to state- or country-specific industry regulations, all applicable Federal regulations (OSHA), and all other applicable state and local regulations. The scope of this position encompasses ensuring compliance to all state tracking systems, general facility and personnel compliance on the licensed premises, food/product safety and sanitation programs, GMPs, corrective and preventive action, allergen management, pest management systems, internal and external audits, safety regulations, and employee training. This position also helps to lead all new product commercialization efforts and new local facility launch efforts from an operational perspective.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Quality Systems and Safety Programs for a local region, including training employees.
- Manage local state tracking system admin and compliance by fulfilling the inventory tracking system Administrator duties.
- Liaise with team members to reconcile tracking system errors daily.
- Manage a team of employees and be a resource for Management.
- Act as liaison for external regulators (i.e., Health Department, Fire Department, City/State, other third party audits, etc.).
- Assist and audit licensed facility compliance and quality by developing, implementing, and enforcing programs (equipment training, food safety plan, security, GMPs, etc.).
- Track and manage state and local licenses for all local licensed facilities.
- Build and implement checklists and assist with internal compliance audits at licensed facilities.
- Review packaging and labeling of finished goods to ensure state-specific compliance for finished goods.
- Review daily Production Batch documentation and Quality checks for completeness and accuracy.
- Research local legislation and provide regulatory compliance guidance for licensed facilities.
- Develop and implement SOPs as needed.
- Research needed business partners for licensed facilities (test labs, food labs, local ingredient suppliers, pest control, etc.).
- Support new product launches locally.
- Continually refine and implement comprehensive employee training programs around Compliance, Quality, and Safety.
- Advise the team on food/product safety and quality trends and recommend appropriate quality improvement or corrective action.
- Analyze processes, identify trends, and continuously evaluate manufacturing programs and processes for improvement.
- Oversee the Pest Management program.
- Assist with special projects within the scope of Compliance and Quality and Safety.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree focused in an area of science is preferred
- 3+ years related experience required
- Possess, or capable of obtaining a State Approved Food Handler Permit within 30 days of employment if applicable
- Extensive knowledge of CRA regulation in the state of Michigan
- Current cannabis badging/license required by the state if applicable
- Extensive experience in GMP certification of manufacturing facilities preferred
- Experience with Dietary Supplement regulations (21 CFR Part 111) is preferred
- Experience with interpreting regulations, auditing, FSMA, PCQI, or HACCP is a plus
