- Manage the day to day and big picture operations of a large scale regulated commercial indoor grow with primary responsibilities include: cloning, transplanting, feeding, cropping, flushing, spraying and trimming flowers.
- Must oversee the cultivation procedures and nutrient protocols, keeping accurate records and presenting the results in a timely manner to the appropriate executives.
- Develop company cultivation methods and work closely with the rest of the cultivation department to develop and improve processes and supervise all post-harvest activities.
- Ensure post-harvest work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with the company's standard operating procedures, and motivate the cultivation staff to meet performance targets.
- Ensure proper training and development of employees and prepare weekly employee time and payroll.
- Schedule preventative maintenance to ensure the highest quality yields without loss to fungus, disease and mold etc.
- Follow strict standards related to the grow operations and will be responsible for KPI Reporting and monitoring on a regular basis.
- Expert knowledge of plant diseases, insects and fungi, and integrated pest management treatment.
- Develops and maintains Integrated Crop Management (ICM) and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program and procedures.
- Execute preventative maintenance to eliminate mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus gnats etc.
- Responsible for the hiring, training and scheduling staff through all processes including cloning, transplanting, topping, defoliating, trimming, packaging, etc.
- Schedule plant maintenance and maintain organization to keep costs down.
- Track and catalog each strain from seed to flower to harvest.
- Comprehensive knowledge of strains, genotype, phenotype, chemotype and the relationship to identification of strains as Sativa, Indica and Hybrids.
- Understand the medicinal and recreational implementation and effects of the chemical/molecular profiles produced in the products harvested from cultivation of various strains and the necessity of accurate analytics.
- Implement standard operating procedures, including oversight, management, and success of the growing operation from start (i.e., seed, tissue culture, or clone as appropriate) to the point of handing off plant materials to the extraction department
- Schedules and maintains all plant and plant-related operations from cuttings and clones in the propagation phase, through vegetation, flowering and hand-off to processing, trimming, extraction operations.
- Responsible for the review and selection of supplies and amendments for use in the process, and for supply chain authorizations.
- Accountable for implementing all compliance programs including batch numbering of plants in compliance with documented company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of commercial agriculture experience
- 5+ years as a Head Grower in a Commercial Indoor Operation
- Bachelor's degree in Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Biology, Horticulture or related degree
- Up to date and advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant growing techniques, new strains, and genetics
- Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Biology, Horticulture Master's or PhD degree
- Expertise and knowledge with nutrients and soil mediums (hydroponics and/or aeroponics preferred)

The Director of Compliance or Chief Compliance Officer will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer and the General Counsel on the cannabis retail, cultivation, extraction, and distribution business lines to manage and lead all compliance-related matters and activities for the Company.
Responsibilities:
- Remain abreast of relevant industry-related, employment, taxation and other relevant laws and regulations; analyze impact and make recommendations to operations and legal
- Develop collaborative relationships with State representatives and regulators
- In conjunction with operations, work closely with a third-party lab to ensure products are being tested in compliance with applicable regulations. Ensure that the results are communicated and recorded on a timely and accurate basis
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. This includes providing guidance to department managers on implementing policy and/or process changes to comply with new and/or changes to regulations
- Leads internal audits to ensure compliance and minimize risks
- Collaborate with team members to identify risks, ensure compliance to OSHA regulations, and ensure loss prevention methods comply with privacy and other applicable laws. This includes implementing training and programs to ensure compliance
- Experience in pharmaceuticals and traditional GMP compliance for pharmaceutical production and regulated agriculture, preferably in controlled agricultural environments.
- Work with the executive team to develop and implement procedures for ensuring absolute legal compliance in all aspects of the Company cannabis operations
- Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested by leadership regarding compliance programs (implementation and results). Report any violation and/or potential risks to operations and legal in a timely manner
- Oversee any recall and/or health/public safety issues. This includes reporting to government agencies, developing communication to dispensaries and/or consumers, working with the management team to develop a corrective plan
- Evaluate participation in community events and other marketing efforts for risks. Ensure marketing activities comply with federal and/or state regulations
- Maintain compliance with all Company policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (MS or JD a plus)
- 2+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs and/or risk management
- Cannabis experience preferred
- Experience in pharmaceutical or agriculture industries a plus
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals
- Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop solutions.
- Proficiency in MS Office products
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, strong project management skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality; the ability to work independently and in a team environment; and knowledge of state and federal laws. We are a fast growing Cannabis Product Manufacturer seeking an experienced Director of Operations for our Collinsville IL production facility to manage a team of employees across manufacturing, logistics, inventory management and supply chain functions, requiring both a hands on manager who is strategic in focus.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced operational leader with strong experience in the food, drug or cannabis manufacturing industry, with the ability to scale production of multiple products, therefore experience in Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, PMP/GMP certification is highly desirable.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountability over all site related activities - EHS, Compliance, Permits, warehousing, supply-chain management, production and quality.
- Hands-on approach towards scaling and managing production operations for multiple cannabis product lines including tinctures, vape cartridges, topicals, and pre-rolls.
- Oversee extraction operations for supercritical carbon dioxide extraction system, including scheduling, quality and management of two highly skilled extraction technicians.
- Commercialize innovation pipeline, working in close collaboration and partnership with Cannabistry team to implement final stage and tech transfer of product development and commercialization activities at manufacturing site.
- Lead execution and project management of strategic initiatives, such as supply continuity planning for cannabis sourcing, cost of goods reduction plans, strategic vendor relationships etc.
- Implement robust operations management processes, including GMPs, QMS, ERP system, SOP. Continuously seek ways to optimize resource allocation, manage costs and reduce overheads
- Demonstrate expertise in organizational development, lead and influence a diverse team during change and growth, while maintaining cooperation, motivation and cohesiveness in a lean environment
- Implement strong leadership, communication, training, and management skills with the ability to develop cross-functional teams and partnerships
Education and Skill Requirements
- Bachelors degree in management, manufacturing, or similar discipline
- Experience in Six Sigma, or LEAN manufacturing is highly desirable.
- 8-10 years hands-on operational experience within a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of three years supervisory experience
- Knowledge of technical, scientific and regulatory principles related to the cannabis industry a plus
- Strong ERP systems experience required
- Proven project and budget management experience with driven financial results
