In this position you, along with a couple amazing colleagues, will take the lead in talent acquisition, collaborating with the various hiring managers. The scope of role will include frontline all the way through to CXO. Working within our ATS and LinkedIn Recruiter, you'll do all the things a recruiter normally does and then some, including developing job descriptions, sourcing, screening, interviewing, scheduling, and managing the process of onboarding for your candidates. You will further accelerate our already unbelievable growth trajectory by assisting with identifying the future leaders of the company.
This role supports recruiting critical roles internally (for Elevation Capital) and externally (for our portfolio companies), a diverse experience in Consumer Goods, Food/Bev, Supplements, Health & Wellness, and/or Computer Software/Hardware roles at all levels is preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research roles, develop job descriptions, competencies, goals, and KPIs for every role.
- Outbound sourcing through Linked in and other tools
- Screening applicants digitally to assess fit.
- Oversee candidate process from open to success in their role.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding
- Creating and presenting recruitment reports to understand where improvements can be made
- Work on recruiting branding and incentives such as employee referral programs
- Implement core values to everyday work life for all employees
- Implement new hiring tools and resources
- Implement recruiting best practices
- Work closely with VP of People and Talent and all hiring managers
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 5+ years of experience of full life cycle and in-house recruiting experience with references that attest to your outstanding ability with this.
- Fluent, inspirational, persuasive, and articulate business communication skills
- Startup or fast-growing company experience, proven experience of growing companies from early stage to mid-stage or beyond
- Health and wellness and/or tech talent acquisition experience
- Strong experience with using linked in recruiter to generate and hire candidates in diverse rolls
- Have experience implementing recruiting tools and processes
- Data oriented, ability to leverage recruiting decisions from recruiting data analytics
- Tech savvy (G-Suite, ATS, Microsoft Office, Recruiting Platforms and Job Boards)
- Experience recruiting highly regulated product categories - e.g. medical technology/dietary supplements/cannabis
- Ability to communicate and understand the needs of hiring managers and be able to translate that into job descriptions and job searches
- Creative and strategic sourcing experience
- BA Degree preferred
COMPENSATION
An aggressive base salary will be provided in this position, with an additional lucrative bonus plan based on performance. Full medical benefits are provided as part of this role. Options/equity will be provided to suitable candidates after completion of the first 90 days (about 3 months). This role also provides the opportunity for advancement in role, function and pay.

THE ROLE
As the Chief Legal Officer, you will report to, and be a key strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer, and the executive team. The Chief Legal Officer is a multidimensional role that not only manages legal tact, but also aligns legal and business strategies, suggests innovative business solutions, mitigates risk, and ensures legal efficiency. You will act as a strategic business partner to the Founder and CEO.
You must possess strong initiative, as well as excellent management and leadership skills and strong business acumen. We are looking for a vibrant, driven and well decorated legal and strategic business leader whose full gamut experience in legal, regulatory, and cross functional global business has made you a leader in your field. You have a mix of experience ranging from overseeing day to day legal in a hyper growth company, as well as driving the strategic, financial, human resources, and investment decisions for optimal growth.
Day to day, you will guide and steer your team, while optimizing our corporate structure in multiple jurisdictions including the US, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. You will be a key member of the leadership team and will also participate in securing high profile executives and advisors, customers, and financial backers from banks, to underwriters, to strategic investment partners. You will lead our aggressive outbound litigation practice protecting assets, brand, and competitive advantage in all elements of the businesses. You will also lead all forms of liability mitigation, including foundational work protecting against inbound federal, state or customer-oriented litigation. Working with and through external counsel, you will be the key point of contact for all regulatory agencies. Through your previous experience you have learned how to grow a business rapidly and safely in a highly innovative and regulated space while creating and maintaining sustainable competitive advantage. You are versed in leading complex advocacy issues including federal and state lobbying. You will have a record of accomplishment successfully fighting for controversial innovation.
In summary: this position will lay the groundwork for our category - advocating for federal and state legislation, navigating relationships with regulators, securing key partnerships with key customers, distributors, and underwriters, ultimately steering how we grow in a way that is safe, but innovative, while maximizing short-, medium- and long-term value. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and lead corporate legal strategies to promote and protect the company's interests while owning all legal items for the portfolio of companies.
- Develop and lead internal audit and corporate compliance programs. Specifically, own global tax strategy in Canada, Barbados, US, Europe for efficiency, compliance, and risk management.
- In collaboration with finance, develop capital acquisition and exit strategy and advocate with all stakeholders to successfully advance high value exit. Specifically, US CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) (500m-1b), Canadian IPO (10-50M), 5-10M series A technology company, and various asset based real estate transactions.
- Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the executive management team while driving Founder's vision to execution.
- Collaborate on strategic business decisions; develop and recommend independent and balanced business options as a contributing member of the executive team.
- Organize all legal needs of the company in a detailed, dynamic, and highly responsive model.
- Manage filings and pending regulatory/compliance FDA/DOJ claims, managing battle plans, PR, and other aspects of litigation.
- Full ownership over of all legal items for the portfolio.
- Recruit, expand and manage a lean internal legal team, utilizing and leading outside counsel as required.
- Review/modify/fix all agreements across businesses for maximum value and minimal risk, including ensuring all relationships across all businesses have properly executed agreements.
- Create a Portfolio-wide legal database where all documents are tracked, organized, and updated to reflect ongoing efforts and strategy.
- Create internal regulatory/compliance guidelines for future new product development.
- Organize all legal items and lead litigation strategy mapped for execution.
- Provide oversight and leadership of the federal and state lobby team and the creation and operation of various third-party organizations to advocate for our interests.
- In collaboration with sales, engage with key retail customers and distribution partners to secure their confidence, minimize their risk, and acquire their business.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- D. degree with strong academic credentials, MBA strongly preferred.
- Active license to practice law in at least one country / state.
- A minimum of 10-15+ years of US and Canadian legal experience at least 5 of which is in a head of legal function.
- Proven success record in working with highly driven entrepreneurial founders and CEOs to create exponential, profitable growth.
- Extensive experiences with various regulatory agencies in fields such as supplements, pharmaceuticals, cannabis and/or alcohol.
- Previous experience in managing/leading state and federal lobbying to successfully stop and advance strategic legislation including mobilization of public affairs initiatives as required.
- Diverse and extensive inbound and outbound litigation experience including state, federal, trademark and consumer liability.
- Ability to work autonomously, taking accountability without a huge team behind them.
- Highly detailed and organized communication style, including the ability to operate in highly charged fast moving environments.
- You are technologically savvy, quick with tools e.g., O365, G-suite, and great at building visual reports and decision trees.
- Willingness and ability to work the hours it takes to be successful in a fast paced, rapid change, hypergrowth environment.
- Minimum 5 years working with and reporting directly to founders/entrepreneurs with a list of highly favorable references from entrepreneurial leaders.
Preference will be shown to those candidates with:
- D. degree and MBA degree is strongly preferred.
- FDA Dietary Regulatory/Compliance experience highly preferred
- A powerful network for US focused regulatory and political success
- A background in dealing with scientific legal issues and experience with its use to defend and attack in the process of opening and securing value in a category.
COMPENSATION
In this role, you will lead the value creation of the company and category. You will be rewarded with a generous base salary, an aggressive, and real, profit share program and a significant stake in a near term targeted lucrative exit. You will work hard but will be rewarded very well. Medical benefits will be provided and 3 weeks' vacation.
