Chemist Technician
The Chemist Technician will receive the client samples from the Sampling Technician and complete all sample login and receipt protocols following laboratory SOP’s. The Chemist Technician will ensure compliance of day-to-day laboratory operations and report to management any issues.
Qualifications
The Chemist Technician must meet applicable DCC requirements for Quality Manager and State Licensing qualifications where applicable:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university; OR
Completed 2 years of college or university education that included coursework in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university PLUS 3-years full time experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Log in client samples to the laboratory information management system (LIMS)
- Schedule sample workflow for preparation and analysis by due date, hold time and turnaround time requirements.
- Prepare and record standards, calibration curves and QC samples.
- Can identify lot numbers and use them accordingly.
- Keep track of expirations dates for all standards.
- Prepare and analyze samples following laboratory methods.
- Perform all initial and continuing calibration requirements for sample analysis.
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and other laboratory equipment.
- Order supplies as needed, liaison with clients regarding analytical results and any technical issues.
- Any other functions as deemed necessary.
Physical Demands
· The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.
· Able to speak English and hear clearly, while communicating with co-workers and managers, in person and over the phone.
· Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
· Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment

Cannabis Lab Director
The Laboratory Director is responsible for operational aspects of the laboratory, activities performed in the laboratory, and laboratory employees. The Cannabis Laboratory Director will play a key role in setting up the laboratory in a professional manner that depicts the mission of California Ag Labs. This person must be comfortable with daily start-up mode and be a solutions-driven individual.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that the facility has adequate space, equipment, materials and controls to perform each test Ensure ISO 17025 practices are followed at all times Lead method development and validation efforts Implement and maintain Laboratory Quality Assurance Program including: Proficiency Testing Program, Corrective Actions Preventative Actions Program, ISO 17025 Accreditation and maintenance. Ensure that laboratory employees have appropriate qualifications and training to perform tests for which the laboratory is certified for. Ensure all employees have adequate consumables to perform all tasks. Ensure that all safety concerns and hazards in the laboratory are promptly addressed. Supervise all laboratory personnel. Answer technical inquiries from customers Interview and recruit scientists. Direct scientific activities of the laboratory. Develop and implement standard operating procedures. Ensure all laboratory employees are adequately trained to perform their assignments. Assist in all aspects of setting up the laboratory (organize and schedule instrument installations, assist in workflow organization, unpack and organize supplies) Sign off and approve data for release.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Cannabis Laboratory Director must be able to:
Lift up to 50 lbs. The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working. Able to speak English and hear clearly, while communicating with co-workers and managers, in person and over the phone. Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware. Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.

EXPERIENCE
Experience managing and mentoring junior scientists. Experience with method development and method validation. Must be able to multi task Strong critical thinking skills Must be detail-oriented. Must have experience operating all Cannabis related testing equipment
Must be flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities
EDUCATION
PhD in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university OR
MS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university (4 years of full-time practical experience in a post-education laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body) OR
BS in a chemical or biological science from an accredited college or university (7 years of full-time, post-education practical experience in a laboratory performing analytical scientific testing in which the testing methods are or were recognized by a laboratory-accrediting body)

Sample Driver Position Available
The Sample Driver will travel to licensed cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution facilities throughout the state of California. The Sample Driver will collect harvest batch, edibles, concentrates and cannabis product batch samples according to SOPs and legal regulations.
The Sample Driver will complete the Chain of Custody (COC) protocol with the distributor or employee of the distributor.
In addition, the Sample Field Log (SFL) will be used to record pertinent information on sample collection. The Sample Driver will then prepare samples for transport to the testing laboratory for the required testing.
Qualifications
The Sample Driver must meet applicable DCC requirements for Quality Manager and State Licensing qualifications where applicable to include a Federal Live Scan background check:
· Completed 2 years of college or university education;
· Earned a High School Diploma or passed GED exam PLUS 2-years full time experience in a cannabis related industry.
· Must be able to read, write and speak English
· Current California Driver’s License
· Clean DMV printout (no moving violations or accidents in last 5 years)
· Must be legally authorized to work in the US
Job duties and Responsibilities
1. Drive to client’s location where product is held.
2. Follow the laboratory’s sampling SOP’s.
3. Initiate Chain of Custody forms for each sample.
4. Ensure area is clean and free of contamination and filth, sanitize tools.
5. Determine METRC information and precede sampling following protocol.
6. Operate calibrated balance to weigh sample.
7. Randomly select the requisite number series of samples within each harvest batch or processed batch to ensure a representative sample.
8. Securing collected samples in tamper-evident containers and monitoring environmental factors to ensure sample integrity.
9. Drive collected samples back to laboratory and complete sample transfer to receiving station and complete chain of custody transfer.
10. Sample Drivers are responsible for the maintenance upkeep of the assigned company vehicle and must report any and all maintenance issues.
11. Any other lab functions as deemed necessary to include assistance in lab prep and or cleaning.

Lab Analyst
This position is with an analytical laboratory specializing in compliance and quality assurance testing for the Cannabis Industry. We currently have an open position for a Laboratory Analyst.

General Accountability
The primary purpose of the Lab Analyst position is to ensure that high quality data is produced in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.
