About the Role
The VP Finance position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company. This will include overseeing and improving the Company’s current financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate and timely financial results.
Responsibilities
Planning
- Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and assist in directing the implementation of strategic business plans
- Develop financial and tax strategies
- Manage the annual budgeting processes including monthly updates throughout each year, measuring variances, and identifying potential areas of concern or opportunity
- Develop and report financial performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations and Analysis
- Manage the accounting, human resources, tax, and treasury functions
- Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
- Develop comprehensive pricing and costing analyses to allow management to efficiently identify areas for profit enhancement via cost reductions and pricing improvements
- Prepare analyses for all capital request decisions showing return on investment timeframe and magnitude
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
- Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve cash flow via inventory management, vendor terms and overall profit enhancement
- Implement operational best practices within areas of responsibility
- Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
Financial Information
- Oversee the issuance of financial information
Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Funding
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
- Assist in arranging debt financing as needed
Qualifications
- CFO/VP Finance level experience in agribusiness or process manufacturing industry
- 10- 15 years of finance and accounting experience with progressively increasing responsibility
- Areas of expertise to include financial and cost accounting, cash management, financial and resource planning systems, and tax compliance
- CPA/MBA preferred
- Exceptional organization skills, strong self-motivator with high attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Love & passion for working in the cannabis industry
