The Trade Marketing & Merchandising Manager will create, oversee, and implement merchandising strategies. You will work with a team of marketing and sales professionals to ensure that all deadlines, inventory requirements, in-store displays, and customer orders are completed in a timely manner. Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and deadline-driven individual with experience managing a small to medium-size project teams. This role also requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a creative eye for sourcing and presenting ideas and concepts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement of trade marketing and merchandising strategies
- Creating eye-catching store layouts and develop product vision that showcase the brand and aesthetic of the company.
- Negotiating the costs of inventory for multiple stores.
- Collaborate with wholesale team to develop innovation point of sale displays for partner retail locations.
- Develop, execute and maintain planograms for the dispensaries
- Preparing annual and quarterly budgets and presenting them to the relevant stakeholders.
- Tracking inventory movement and systematically introducing promotions, sales, price changes, etc.
- Identifying trends, forecasting profits/sales and monitoring supply and demand.
- Collaborating with the marketing department to brainstorm new projects, campaigns, and business ideas.
- Interpreting sales reports and providing guidance on how to improve figures and customer engagement.
Direct Marketing
- Develop welcome program for new accounts, thanking them for joining the brand family, and providing tools to jumpstart sell-through
- Manage trade email marketing, building the strength of the account database, and develop content to build awareness and expand points of distribution
Incentive Programs
- Support the development and evaluation of incentive programs with distributors.
- Communicate and promote programs to the sales teams and engage with top performers.
- Execute programs, planning related events and producing prizes promised to winners.
Sales Support
- Partner with Marketing Manager on sampling programs for new releases, facilitating distribution to key accounts.
- Manage the development of training materials for distributor sales reps, and account (e.g., liquor store, bar, and restaurant) staff, ranging from printed cheat sheets to video productions.
- Work with company colleagues to set and communicate product allocations and availability of company's products to distributors
Point of Sale Marketing - Promotions and Packaging
- Manage and/or execute updates to all standard trade marketing materials (e.g., shelf talkers, sell sheets, presentations), maintaining digital library and managing effective availability and distribution; working with the Sales Team on all point of sale needs and ideas.
- Help shape and oversee trade marketing initiatives, including twin-packs, case cards, tasting set-up and other in-store promotions
- Manage design and production of materials
- Communicate program components to distributors
- Distribute materials and oversee their deployment to accounts
- Measure impact on sales, and make recommendations about whether and how to repeat / evolve the program in the future
Online Sales and Resources
- Identify the accounts doing a high volume of online sales, and work with them to use current / high quality brand photography, improve product descriptions, and position our products to maximize sales through this channel
- Maintain Ethos dispensaries and other trade resources, to ensure brand products are represented comprehensively and actively.
- Work with the company's Finance Manager to ensure new products are registered in distributors' systems, and ready for purchase orders and sales in every market
Business Development
- Identify opportunities to build additional visibility, reach and velocity for the brand by working with distributors and accounts
- Work with sales and marketing colleagues to explore and implement programs
- Help leverage the company's special product programs to maximize engagement between accounts and the brand.
- Work all programs' managers (the company's Production Manager) to analyze data and results, generate insights, and evolve program and target accounts accordingly year-over-year.
- Identify and secure opportunities to, via the company's program.
- Further relationship with buyers, staff, and their consumers leverage accounts' marketing channels to increase the brand's visibility in conjunction with the program
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Management, Retail, or a related field is a bonus.
- Project Management experience a plus
- A minimum of five years' experience in a managerial position.
- A background in Marketing, Communications, and/or Design is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Cannabis industry experience a plus
- Must be creative and detail orientated.
Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Knowledge of product innovation and creation process.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Strong people and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong communication skills, including written, spoken, and presentation, with the ability to deliver a clear, concise message to a diverse audience.
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, and multigenerational environment
- Periodic travel to various retail and grower/processor sites within your regions of coverage and responsibility.
Compensation:
- This position is classified as Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
