Job Title: Senior Director, CPG Manufacturing
Reports to: Vice President, Operations and Supply Chain
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
Position Objective:
Reporting to the Vice President, Operations and Supply Chain, the Senior Director, CPG Manufacturing is responsible for leading the optimization of all CPG manufacturing and supply chain operations, driving manufacturing best practices, quality, production and commercialization of CPG finished products, ensuring consistency and effective delivery, high standards of regulatory safety and compliance, effective continuous improvement activities, and maintain a strong team focused culture aligned with Schwazze’s values.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement management controls to improve manufacturing processes and ensure the required resources, procedures, and systems are present, keeping current with industry trends to identify ways to implement standardized progressive technology across locations.
- Lead efforts in collaboration with R&D, marketing, regional leadership for improving existing products, including design, execution, and delivery, to maximize productivity and innovation through technical assessments, cost / opportunity, or prioritization implications.
- Establish and refine SOPs, QMS system and program ensuring compliance; ensure GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) processes are maintained and fulfilled.
- Develop and communicate KPIs to monitor facility performance in the areas of safety, output, inventory accuracy, OTIF order accuracy, labor efficiency, customer satisfaction and working capital targets.
- Lead, coach and develop manufacturing teams to minimize COGS and optimize working capital (inventory) to drive increase in gross margins.
- Responsible for team member health and safety through established training and respective metrics are implemented to measure effectiveness of policies to identify areas of improvement.
- Create ROI, cost / benefit analysis, and business cases to implement initiatives and expenditures designed to improve processes (automation, expansion).
- Adhere to all state and local compliance regulations of the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED).
- Ensure all track and trace records according to Metrc are maintained.
- Complete other projects as necessary and other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field is required
- 10+ years of operations / manufacturing / fulfillment experience with increasing responsibility within the preferred CPG / NHP industries (pharmaceutical, food and beverage, consumer goods)
- Experience in a manufacturing setting with a focus on operational efficiencies and continuous improvement
- Proven ability to manage numerous projects and resources remotely in the highly dispersed organization
- Demonstrated experience gathering and presenting results to include earnings growth, working capital reduction, SG&A control and operational productivity
- A high level of experience implementing and optimizing ERP systems (Sage preferred)
- Strong affinity to use data and systems to drive decisions
- Cannabis industry experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI skills
- Ability to work and communicate with various levels within the organization, including members of the executive leadership team
- Knowledge of lean methodology, kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, etc.
- Ability to travel frequently throughout the region and to other locations as needed
Working Conditions (Schedule, Environment, Travel):
- Position is based in the Denver, Colorado area
- Travel as needed approximate 75% of the time to nationwide business and customer locations
