The Director of Retail Operations is responsible for optimizing the retail experience and ensuring seamless operation with tight compliance and inventory controls. This is a heavily people-oriented management role that ensures all Store SOPs are carried out in smooth and disciplined manner. The Director will work very closely with the Market Leaders, and Managers to ensure each department is aligned with budget projections and operational goals. To achieve this, the Director must learn and integrate all components of our existing SOPs, ensure organizational readiness, and manage the day-to-day operations such that we consistently achieve profitability.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the store workforce management team to drive efficiencies in store scheduling, payroll forecasting, reporting and administration of incentive programs.
- Partner with the finance and accounting department to analyze store incentive programs to recommend changes that will drive top line growth and/or expense savings; as well as, manage store expenses and drive cost savings.
- Create a consistent in-store experience for customers; work with operations leaders to ensure store experience meets expectations consistently.
- Primary liaison between the executive management team and location to ensure that all information is communicated in a timely, consistent, and brand appropriate manner.
- Develop retail policies and procedures with the human resources team and incorporate into daily operations.
- Ensure operations are in full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws in Nevada.
- Monitor and/or adjust KPIs and work with each Dispensary Management to meet and exceed goals.
- Monitor staffing levels and other operational aspects to optimize store performance.
- Responsible for communicating regional performance and feedback to Executive Management.
- Stay informed of new technology and cannabis industry initiatives to drive innovation and efficiency within store.
- Partner with the Human Resources department to support training, talent management, employee relations & morale.
- Partner with Compliance and Safety to ensure Operations in consistently meeting the expectations and compliance regulations of CCB.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- 7 to 10 years retail experience, specifically in field operations, sales, workforce management and communications.
- At least 5 years' experience in a management or supervisory position
- Experience in the Operations within the Cannabis industry a plus.
- Understanding the uniqueness of the Las Vegas Market and consumer behavior.

Job Description
The Director of Retail Dispensaries will lead Local Roots dispensaries in Fitchburg, Sturbridge and Marlboro and is responsible for compliance, profitably growing dispensary revenue, developing dispensary objectives, and ensuring our customers receive consistent and exceptional service every visit. We seek a motivated individual to enhance our consumer experience, provide solid leadership to our retail teams, maximize revenue through marketing and advertising, and meet our future growth plans. The Director of Retail Dispensaries will report to the corporate management team.
What it takes
The Director of CPC/LR’s retail corporate arm will be responsible for numerous operational components and will supervise the individual locations while working closely with their General Managers. The position will require a little bit lawyer (regulatory compliance), an eye for market trends, the presence of a head coach and some creativity with the ability to improvise. The Director, most importantly, will spearhead the “front of the house” retail culture of our company. The Director will communicate and collaborate regularly with our management team.
This is an opportunity for someone to grow very quickly with us.
Experience
Prior experience in the cannabis industry is NOT required, however it is also not discouraged. A commitment to learn can easily make up for an initial lack of knowledge of the product. Candidates with restaurant or hotel management experience are highly encouraged.

- Define objectives, strategies and plans at the retail level.

- Understand and remain current on market trends and demand for product offerings.
- Oversee relationships with vendors to enhance product offerings, promotions and pricing.
- Oversee retail inventory levels and ensuring the freshest products of the highest quality are maintained in all retail locations.
- Become expert at all company-wide operating platforms including LeafLogix Point of Sale system and METRC, the state mandated seed to sale tracking system.
- Interact closely with the compliance team to ensure all dispensaries and personnel are in compliance with MA State regulations, in all operations, processes, inventory management and protocol. An understanding of 935CMR500.000 is critical to this position.
- Collaborate on product design, development, packaging and other channels to ensure the product meets the needs of the stores and continues to drive overall brand strategies. Modern digital marketing experience is very important.
- Reinforces service, product, operations and management expectations through training and development of LR store teams.
- Maintains a presence in the field in order to effectively coach and support dispensary teams. Ensures operational priorities, processes and procedures are communicated, understood and executed consistently across all locations.
- Hiring store general managers as needed. Assist general manager in hiring assistant general managers.
- Work well with the CPC/LR retail general managers.
Qualifications
- MUST BE OVER 21
- Sales and operations leader with retail or restaurant experience, with operations in a high-volume retail environment ideally with multiple locations.
- Experienced in leading strategy and execution of retail operations function.
- Strong personnel management and retail operations knowledge, including inventory control, loss prevention, retail POS systems, merchandising, customer service, budget preparation and compliance.
- Demonstrated track record in driving revenue and increasing store productivity.
- A visible leader who will establish credibility and inspire the team.
- Strong strategic skills with financial planning and operational savvy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent people and organizational skills.
