The Senior Manager, Product Innovation & Marketing is responsible for overseeing the product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle-from idea, through development, launch, and ultimately removal from our shelves. The role also requires the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, supports effective decision making, through identification and management of risks and issues, and the creation of project-level timeline to enable the assessment of project acceleration and other trade-offs. The role will work closely with all aspects of the business including, but not limited to, marketing, cultivation, and the operations teams as products move from concept to shelf. This role reports to the VP Brand/Marketing.
As our Senior Manager, New Product Innovation, you will be tasked with not only supporting the Cultivation and Processing teams, but the continuous improvement of the product development process structure, data management and standard operating procedure design. The role will also assist with the development of functional strategies while also determining the development of budgets, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the product innovation strategy for Ethos Cannabis
- Responsible for in-market success of the NPI
- Ensures concept integrity from conception of the NPI until market launch
- Overall project lead on NPI projects from gates 0 - 6.
- Ensures availability of project resources and removes roadblocks
- Gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements
- Executes all product launches with a fully integrated marketing plan based on aligned KPIs.
- Develops product development roadmap and associated activities.
- Working closely with the Fitchburg R&D team, marketing, and retail to meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals
- Forecasting product demand and tracking sales vs. forecast
- Ensuring that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals
Key functions of this role:
- Utilize market research and insights to get ideas for products that customers will want.
- Specify and oversee the research needed to determine the needs and desires of customers
- Lead the design and production and planning of how to market and promote the product to the public
- Define product marketing communication objectives
- Compare the company's products to competitor's products in order to assess competition in the market
- Provide management with analyses and reporting and respond to questions and requests from management.
- Work with the Cultivation & Processing teams to review and adjust inventory levels and product production schedules to maintain product availability.
Oversee the innovation process:
- Leads key projects with research and development to support business goals and assesses the scope of research projects to ensures they are on time.
- Drives collaboration with colleagues providing support, guidance and coaching on project skills.
- Oversee planning, scope creation and following multiple project schedules in a timely manner.
- Driving excellence in execution through leadership, commitment, stakeholder management, and coordination across project work streams and is accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery. Oversee tracking and support the presenting of project
- updates/status, milestones, issues, actions, and report outs to stakeholders, site, divisional and group leadership.
- Oversee project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal and external team members.
- Various Ad Hoc Projects as needed
Qualifications:
- 7 - 12 years of experience in Product Management or related field
- Bachelor's degree or higher (or equivalent).
- Working Professional Cannabis marketing knowledge- At least 2 years of experience working in the Cannabis industry
- Food/Agriculture experience a plus
- Familiarity with cannabis regulations.
- A track record of project management/product development (R&D) within a proven Consumer Packaged Good (CPG) structure.
- Demonstrated high level of leadership, relationship management, and communication skills; ability to work effectively cross-functionally.
- Proven track record in accomplishing significant and impactful business results.
- Broad understanding of project management platforms, including MS Team would be a plus
- Principle knowledge of Lean/6Sigma principles
- Ability to be a technical and strategic thought-leader as well as a hands-on implementer.
- Must be detail oriented with superior organizational skills.
- Must be able to multi-task and produce results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with coworkers and all levels of management.
- Adhering to applicable organizational rules, regulations, and directives.
Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Knowledge of product innovation and creation process.
- Demonstrated expertise in a variety of concepts, practices, platforms, and procedures to support and deliver projects.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Strong people and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong communication skills, including written, spoken, and presentation, with the ability to deliver a clear, concise message to a diverse audience.
- Demonstrated ability to work comfortably and effectively within a diverse, multicultural, and multigenerational environment
- Periodic travel to various retail and grower/processor sites within your regions of coverage and responsibility.
Compensation:
- This position is classified as Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
