Job purpose
- The purpose of the LABORATORY PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN is to produce high quality Cannabis-based concentrates, and other products of value, utilizing various pieces of equipment, processing techniques, and methods of extraction. These products are to be produced with the highest standards for quality, safety, cleanliness, efficiency, and compliance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage, evaluate, and designate raw Cannabis plant material into various production batches.
- Extract plant material into various products following all Local, State, and Federal guidelines, as well as all company standard operating procedures.
- Properly handle and process raw materials and extracts in accordance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations, as well as all company standard operating procedures.
- Properly operate, clean, and maintain all equipment, facilities, and other materials.
- Properly handle chemicals, and follow safe guidelines for chemical use, storage, and waste in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations.
- Perform quality assurance and control point checks to ensure that all products are properly produced, free of filth and contamination, fall within a certain aesthetic quality, and always remain in compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations, as well as with all company standard operating procedures.
- Perform Analytic based procedures, which includes but is not limited to, performing tests on plant materials, extracts, infused products, etc.
- Ensure that the proper sampling, tracking and testing of produced products are followed based on the regulations put forth by the State of Colorado. Also ensuring the proper sampling and tracking of all in-house tests which includes reference, shelf life, and other tests aiding in product validation.
- Package and label products properly, always remaining compliant with all Local, State, and Federal regulations.
- Notify the DIRECTOR of MIP of any and all discrepancies, low inventory of necessary materials, equipment requiring maintenance, equipment malfunctions/failure, chemical spills, broken glassware, etc.
- Ensure that any and all production activity is approved, properly logged, and recorded. All of which includes any applicable research, development, or other events/variables/produced materials that are of notable interest.
- Consistently striving for the development of quality, efficiency, compliance, and for any and all areas in which the department can be improved as a whole.
- Be Familiar with and follow all applicable Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree with a science based concentration, such as Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Botany, etc.
- Experience in Laboratory setting.
- Experience handling, using, and disposing of chemicals.
- Experience utilizing scientific equipment, including but not limited to, high pressure fluid systems and instrumentation, various Chromatography instruments, and other pieces of laboratory equipment.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the foodservice industry.
- Positive attitude.
Working conditions
Employees will be required to work in a warehouse/commercial kitchen environment. The primary workspace of this position will be in the Laboratory. The LABORATORY PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN will be required to dress in company provided Personal Protective Equipment and handle materials such as raw Cannabis, Cannabis concentrate, Cannabis based products, various Chemicals and Solvents.
Physical requirements
This position requires that employees work on their feet for extended periods of time. This position may require the lifting of objects up to 75 lbs. Employees must be capable of making visual, auditory, and physical observations. This position will be required to handle raw Cannabis, Cannabis extracts, and various Chemicals and Solvents which may warrant the use of Personal Protective Equipment such as Gloves, Eye goggles, Respirators, and Uniform which may also require a Physical Examination and or test such as a Respirator Fit test etc.
Direct reports
Employees will report directly with the Director of MIP regarding daily activities and will be required to input all necessary and relevant data into company secured formats. There will be extensive communication and interaction with all members of the KP LLC team on a daily basis to ensure the successful collaboration between all departments.

Position Overview:
The Production Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting in the extraction and refinement of cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material. This position will require the application of chemical and physical separation techniques using state of the art equipment.
Essential Functions:

- Packaging and labeling of concentrates and derivative natural products.

Required Education:

Required Experience:
- Must have at least 1 year of METRC experience.
- HS Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree, preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or applicable science field preferred.
- Relevant industry or equivalent materials handling and processing experience: 1 year.
- Familiarity with EH&S or equivalent standard laboratory practices and procedures preferred.
- Training in complex chemical separations and manufacturing processes or equivalent knowledge preferred.
- Experience with quality control and quality assurance practices highly preferred.
- Combination of experience and education will be considered.
Additional Requirements:
- Nevada driver's license of State ID card.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must pass any and all required background checks.
- Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.
- Must be approved by the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board to receive and maintain an agent card.
