Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Assistant Grower position is responsible for assisting in the management of crop growing operations for multiple greenhouses.
JOB DUTIES:
Responsibilities of the assistant grower will include: irrigation, nutritional and environmental control management, pest and disease monitoring, and assisting planting crews.
- Monitor growing conditions and discuss any changes noticed in humidity, moisture, temperature and cultivation procedures with the Production Manager and team to ensure quality control.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides and fungicides as directed. Handle chemical applications, including working with sprayers and heavy hoses. Spray chemicals as needed up to twice per week after normal business hours, based on chemical and need.
- Assist in expanding our bio controls for pests and diseases.
- Multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Routinely check crops throughout the day, irrigating as necessary.
- Work in a greenhouse or outdoor field area, under changing weather conditions, temperature/humidity variations.
- Flexible working hours will vary throughout the season generally Monday - Friday, must be available to work some weekend days* and holidays. Overtime is mandatory as needed (Agriculture exemption applies).
- Work with and around trucks, lift gates, forklifts, and utility vehicles.
- Ability to lift or move 50 lbs.
- A positive, flexible attitude and a common-sense approach to accomplishing assigned tasks and meeting team goals.
