BUD TENDER Experience and Knowledge: Budtenders should be qualified to work in a dispensary and preferably have a wide range of cannabis knowledge. To provide patients with a positive experience at our dispensaries, budtenders need to demonstrate their knowledge of strains, cannabis products and medical use guidelines. Must have an understanding of the characteristics of each strain of cannabis being sold, based on their taste (smoke), smell, and effects. If a patient requests a specific strain that the dispensary does not have, our budtenders should be able to recommend a similar strain with their broad understanding of cannabis in terms of the attributes based upon the patient’s original request. Our Budtenders are also encouraged to notify the Manager on Duty about all patient’s request. A budtender should also be able to adhere to the necessity for a medical marijuana user. Their ability to understand the medical circumstances of certain strains is critical and essential for the safety of our patients. Budtenders are encouraged to stay in tune with cannabis trends by checking social media and industry blogs. Duties/Responsibilities: Greet and establish rapport with patient’s— get to know them and seek to understand their interest in cannabis medicine; Assist patients in identifying the medicines and methods of medication that best fit their individual needs; Adhere to strict distribution processes and maintain a professional and safe environment for patients and coworkers; Gather and process required patient documents and information, and perform detailed verification while maintaining patient confidentiality; Continue to enhance your knowledge of medical cannabis, and continually hone your ability and skills to explain and recommend treatment procedures and product uses; Unpack, sort, count and label merchandise as directed, including items requiring special handling or refrigeration; Maintain the professional appearance of the collective by restocking merchandise on the sales floor and participating in basic store clean-up; i.e. dusting, moping, and organizing. Perform clerical tasks including accurate filing, compiling, and maintaining inventory, cash deposits, and records.
Skills & Qualifications: Proper licenses, as necessary; Experiences in retail sales preferred; Knowledge of marijuana strains, (Indicas, Sativas, Hybrids), edibles, extracts, and current products on the market; Dispensary-related experience a plus; Must be friendly, outgoing, trustworthy, dependable, and hardworking; Must be able to provide exemplary patients service and represent the business with pride; Must be at least 21 years of age; Must comply with an extensive background check (if requested). Patient Service: Since budtenders work one-on-one with our patients, it is essential that they provide a welcoming environment for them. A budtender's job is to provide and share their knowledge and passion of cannabis with ever patient, teach those who have never tried cannabis before and provide insight to new trends or strains. Budtenders may share stories in order to market to a patient while creating a safe and friendly environment. These stories are meant to provide ease of apprehension of what a patient might feel or do when they use a certain type of cannabis. However, budtenders are not recommended to push the products by telling fake stories or experiences in order to get a patient to buy something; this is considered bad patient service within the industry. Also, budtenders are commended when they have good hygiene while addressing or working with patients. Having clean hands and tidy attire are critical when a budtender works with a patient. Budtenders are also required to use tongs or gloves when pulling out a sample from a jar instead of reaching in with their bare hands. Finally, budtenders are also highly recommended to express a sense of passion for their product in order to spark interest from our patients.

Dispensary managers oversee ALL operations at a marijuana dispensary.
General job duties include and not limited to monitoring the inventory of cannabis product, hiring and training budtenders, sales, security staff, and setting standards and protocols for delivering products and services. You may also communicate directly with patients to recommend products and answer questions when the budtenders are unable to do so. To ensure the products are handled and used properly, you will be asked to supervise all employees during transactions and make sure patients receive accurate documentation on what they can expect from the product with a receipt.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Primary contact for the business, internally and externally
- Assist in overseeing the entire operation of the dispensary
- Ensures that the dispensary operations stay in compliance with the Medical Use of Marijuana Program and internally approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
- Responsible for assuring that all books, reports, and certificates required by law are properly kept on file
- Maintain the company's plan on both long-term and short-term goals (as needed)
- Interview, hire, supervise and if necessary, terminate any of the subsequent employees
- Cross-train all associates to maximize the efficiency of staff levels
- Supervise contractors and/or vendors
- Make sure security procedures are functioning and in place
- Accountable for security personnel and security equipment functionality
- Ensure that staff members are adequately trained and following company set protocols
- Ensure that all staff members are patient-oriented
- Check that all administrative records are up to date
- Ensure maintenance, cleanliness and proper setup for the dispensary is achieved daily
- Educate the patient population on the advantages of our dispensary
- Assist in receiving products for the dispensary, when necessary
- Assist in marketing strategies; including working relationships with local medical doctors, as well as ensuring all social media is being updated daily/weekly/monthly.
- Recommend additional work to be done in the dispensary to the Regional Manager
- Review Department of Public Health inspection reports and notices and note any action to be taken
- Fill in any position needed at dispensary site
- Oversee daily dispensary operations and monitor patient interaction and reception
- Oversee and ensure delivery services are optimized
- Set weekly work schedule for any subsequent dispensary agents
- Responsible for opening and closing the dispensary
- Responsible for opening the safe, counting money, managing incoming and outgoing cash and inventory
- Verify the closing cash register reports and beginning/ending inventory are balanced
- Responsible for which products will be available and when they will be available
- Ensure inventory levels match patient needs
Qualifications:

- Financial analysis skills sufficient to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets and control inventory (reduce/eliminate shrinkage).

This person will most likely have to open or close the store on a regular basis.
