The Solventless Extraction Lead is responsible for extracting, refining and isolating Phyto-cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material into a concentrated form using ice and water as a solvent and various separation techniques with little to no supervision. The Solventless Extraction Lead is looked to for their expertise in the Solventless Extraction and Refining areas, ensuring use of best practices and training new team members.
Key Job Accountabilities

- Operates solvent extraction and separations equipment and non-solvents refinement equipment that extracts and refines oil from a variety of cannabis plant material.
- Will be responsible for the continual optimized operation of all equipment used to produce Ice Water Hash and Rosin.
- Expected to thoroughly understand, master, and teach standard operating procedures developed alongside the Extraction Manager and or the Extraction Director at each stage of Ice Water Hash and Rosin production. As an expert in Solventless Ice Water Hash extraction and Rosin production, the Solventless Lead learns and understands the critical production factors that affect quality and rate of production and how to control them.
- ??Must maintain awareness of critical points in production where operator performance can affect the moisture content, temperature, pressure and composition as it affects phase selectivity, oxidation and other factors that impact the quality and throughput of Rosin production.
- Observes, monitors & records temperature, pressure and all other important parameters on processes and equipment, reporting errors or issues to leadership or more senior members of the team.
- Ability to effectively guide a team of technicians to break production records and prepare data-driven performance reports.
- Ensures the safe, accurate, and timely production of Ice Water Hash and Rosin; Ensures cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of the production area.
- Provides consistent oversight of extraction procedures, ensuring standardized requirements and accuracy.
- Maintains quality control measures to ensure a high-quality product.
- Cleaning and maintenance of Solventless extraction equipment and secondary supplies ensuring best cleaning and maintenance practices and schedules are followed.
- Troubleshooting equipment as able and escalating malfunctions.
- Refining extracted material via rosin press and multiple post processing techniques.
- Conduct Design of Experiment trails to determine optimal parameter settings of equipment.
- Moderate physical demand; may include carrying empty and loaded biomass containers, as well as ice and water containers.
- Preventative maintenance of extraction equipment. Raising malfunctions or issues to leadership or more senior members on the team.
- Record all measurable data on AirTable or other databases.
- Usage of METRC and/or other regulatory mandated databases.
- Guide and demonstrate to newer members of the team, sharing best practices.
- Expertise in writing, using, and advising on SOP’s, sharing best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Ability to perform general mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of job responsibilities, including but not limited to good documentation practices, strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedure and Manufacturing Batch Record instructions, equipment and area hygiene and safety, cGMP gowning requirements adherence, release versus quarantine status of all manufacturing materials, general labeling requirements.
- Accurately and precisely operate laboratory scales and other simple but precision measurement devices.
- The ability to professionally represent FoundryWorks in all personnel interactions including those associated with regulatory agency inspection and/or audits.
- The ability to perform all job functions in direct compliance with written instruction.
- The ability to quickly comprehend the set-up, operation, controls and trouble-shooting of equipment.

Professional Experience + Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production experience.
- 3-4 years of experience working in a lab and/or specialty chemicals environment with various separation techniques and similar equipment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Overtime and weekend work is usually expected if business needs/warrants it.
