Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett), an award winning environmental, health and safety (EHS) and architectural-engineering consulting and engineering firm, is seeking a full-time Construction Safety Specialist (CSS) to support a variety of construction related projects on-site at a Federal client facility in the downtown Washington, DC Capitol Hill area.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in safety, health and safety, architecture, engineering or a biological, chemical, or physical science discipline.

5 years of progressive experience working as a Construction Safety Specialist.
- Strong knowledge of construction related safety and health regulations, specifically OSHA Part 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.

Successful completion of an OSHA 30 Hour Safety and Health Training course.
- Personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring experience
- Must be able to manage multiple and competing priorities and complete tasks on-time in a dynamic environment.
- Possess strong technical, interpersonal, organizational and communications (written and oral) skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential or willingness and ability to obtain it shortly after hire.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position (i.e., the ability to work in the field, work outdoors, lift 50 lbs., etc.).
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain OMB Position of Public Trust and Federal Protective Services Favorable designations. Other clearance requirements for access to Federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check, pre-employment physical examination, and drug-screening to include cannabis and other regulated substances under Federal law.

Key Responsibilities
The CSS will provide general construction safety and health consulting and in-house support to the Federal agency's programs. Typical activities, include but are not limited to, interpretation and identification of applicable OSHA construction regulations and general construction industry accepted standards of practice in the following areas:
- Contractor's safety and health programs;
- Reporting and record keeping;
- Electrical hazards;
- Fall protection;
- Materials handling;
- Cranes and rigging;
- Motorized mobile platforms;
- The Competent Person;
- Excavations;

Work zone traffic control; and
- Forklift hazards
Updating of construction safety and health programs; compliance audits/reviews; hazard surveillance; near miss, accident, and incident investigations; job hazard analysis; training program development and implementation; and data entry and analysis. This is a hands-on position.
Base Location
This position is based in the Washington, DC southwest area near the U.S. Capitol (Capital South Metro stop).
