Job Title: Compliance Officer

JOB SUMMARY: A Compliance Officer ensures a company functions in a legal and ethical manner while meeting its business goals.
This person is responsible for developing compliance programs, reviewing company standard operating procedures, and advising executive management/owners on possible risks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other assignments, projects, and
duties may be required:
- Conducts daily Metrc checks to ensure accuracy of output.
- Conducts weekly adjustment and check-in audits.
- Assists personnel with compliance needed issues (Metrc, transport, testing, etc.) which may require additional research.
- Creates and revises Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the company.
- Keeps abreast of local and national legislation by reviewing MED Bulletin Checks and Updates, Colorado
Department of Health and Public Environment (CDHPE) updates, Denver Department of Public Health and
Environment (DDPHE) updates, Denver Fire updates, Pueblo Planning and Development tests.
- Conducts compliance and licensing meetings on a weekly basis.
- Conducts weekly adjustment error checks.
- Monitors all testing throughout the company to verify we are complying.
- Monitors all process validation to be sent and testing received. This includes email communication, logging of testing information and documenting the process validation cheat sheet.
- Monitors all harvest batch testing along with quarterly potency testing
- Conducts bi-monthly audits at Pueblo MIP and send the audit reports that occur during each audit.
- Conducts bi-monthly Denver cultivation audits and sends the audit reports that occur during each audit.
- Compiles and sends out monthly compliance scores email.
- Conducts Marijuana Enforcement /Department of Revenue (MED), Cannabis Distribution Association (CDA), Fire
Department and any other state or city department audits, as necessary.
- Trains new and current employees on Metrc applications.
- Participates in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) meetings and discussions with research and development personnel.
- Studies Retail Food Establishment Rules, MED and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
- Assists in processing applications for MIP and Grow.
- Participates in Metrc user group meetings.
- Contacts and researches various metrc issues to resolution.
- Communicates any R&D products requiring proper documentation
- Assists with new item name consistencies
- Researches and advises management with compliance issues when venturing into new markets (Oregon, etc.)
EDUCATION and/or WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field required, and/or at least two (2) years of compliance work experience.
- MED badge or ability to obtain from Colorado Marijuana Enforcement.
- Must have excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop reports, create formulas; demonstrated ability to perform data analysis and make recommendations to improve work processes required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation; proven ability to build influential relationships at all levels in the organization.
- Strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive; ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment of frequent change and ambiguity.
- Knowledge of cannabis related processes and best practices.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Thorough knowledge of cannabis related laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to make timely decisions in an effective manner.
