Full Job Description
Laboratory Manager:
US Cannalytics FL is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory located in Orlando, FL. We are in search of an experienced lab manager that seeks a challenging position leading an independent testing laboratory serving the medical cannabis industry in Florida.
The laboratory manager, working with the laboratory director, will be responsible for all aspects of lab operations. Initial responsibilities will include laboratory setup, validation, talent recruitment, and training. Once production commences, responsibilities will shift towards operational execution - ensuring the timely delivery of high quality results and unparalleled customer service. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Executing method optimization
- Maintaining analytical equipment (i.e. HPLC, GC-MSMS, LCMSMS, ICP-MS, qPCR analytical balances, autoclave, centrifuge, biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, etc.)
- Sample preparation, sample analysis, and data review
- Inventory management
- Data entry
- Final review of data
- Generation and issuance of Certificate of Analysis
- Ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures, state regulations, and ISO-17025 quality management system
- Client relations
- Managing staff (i.e. assigning duties, creating schedule, performing employee reviews)
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a biological science and a minimum of 4 years post-degree laboratory experience related to testing of medicinal or pharmaceutical products or other experience as approved by the Department or
- A master’s level degree in a chemical or biological science and a minimum of 2 years post-degree laboratory experience related to testing of medicinal or pharmaceutical products or other experience as approved by the Department or
- A doctorate of science or an equivalent degree in chemistry, biology, or a sub-discipline of chemistry or biology.
- Appropriate experience with HPLC-PDA/UV, HPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and/or ICP-MS
- Managerial experience
- Flexibility to take on new assignments and see them through to completion
- 3-years experience using Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to effectively multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Agilent HPLC, GC, and ICP-MS instrumentation and software
- Experience with AB Sciex HPLC-MS/MS and Analyst/MultiQuant instrumentation and software
- Knowledge of chemical properties/profiles of cannabis and cannabis-specific dosage forms
- Experience working in a regulated system, specifically an ISO 17025 quality management system
Compensation:
Compensation will be based on experience and skillset, and structured with incentives for meeting outlined goals.

ENTRY LEVEL SCIENTIST RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include the sample accessioning, sample preparation, inventory management, testing, quality control, and tracking of cannabis material. The candidate must ensure the safe, accurate, and timely testing of cannabis products.
ENTRY LEVEL SCIENTIST QUALIFICATIONS, must:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Pass a background check
- Be at least 21 years old
ENTRY LEVEL SCIENTIST QUALIFICATIONS, preferred:
- (1) Completed Bachelor's in a natural science (biology, chemistry, cell biology, environmental science, etc); or (2) have four years work experience in a professional medical/environmental/scientific laboratory with a current license as a Clinical Laboratory Personnel, as defined in s.483.803, F.S from the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Comply with company policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with state medical marijuana regulations
- Sample accessioning
- Prepare samples for mandated state testing
- Develop expertise in testing methods and analytical instrumentation (LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, GCMS, qPCR, & HPLC)
- Responsible for inventory of supplies and cannabis tracking and destruction
- Responsible for accurate weighing and recording all product weights
- Works in a timely manner and strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy
- Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
