The RPC Analyst reports to the Director of Export Controls and is part of the export control team responsible for the oversight and monitoring of processes to promote and facilitate compliance with federal laws and regulations, as well as with UC policies and procedures. The RPC Analyst supports the development, implementation and administration of the UCLA export control compliance program and other general compliance activities. In coordination with the Director of Export Controls, the incumbent participates in license determinations on a variety of transactions, including deemed exports for visa beneficiaries and visitors, shipments, travel, and financial transactions. The RPC Analyst helps provide education and guidance to the campus community on complying with export control regulations, including those administered by the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of the Treasury.
Additionally, the RPC Analyst works with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Research (AVC) on matters related to potential undue foreign influence. The RPC Analyst will support the AVC and the Director of Export Controls in special reviews, assist in preparing materials for outreach and education, help maintain the Foreign Engagement website, and participate in preparing special reports and correspondence.
The RPC Analyst should demonstrate good judgment and discretion, have excellent verbal communication and writing skills, be organized and reliable, and help the export control team resolve a wide range of compliance issues.

RPC staff serve as subject matter experts and provide the campus community with advice and guidance on matters related to the application of research policies, especially those pertaining to conflict of interest, research misconduct, use of biohazardous materials and animals in research. The office is responsible as well for review of use of radiation producing materials and equipment, and use of cannabis in research. RPC serves as the administrative home for the UCLA Export Control compliance program. RPC staff also work collaboratively with Legal Affairs, Academic Affairs, and the Office of Research Administration on special reviews related to questions of foreign engagement.
RPC convenes and provides leadership for a number of faculty-led review committees.
