Job Description
Summary/objective
The Receiving Technician will greet transporters and receive, inspect, and record shipments with raw material or products. This position will be responsible for unloading packages and checking their contents to ensure they match related documentation, helping to ensure purchases end up at the proper destinations. This position will also work with the finance team to support the business through transaction entry and other related administrative work.

- Answer the door in the Processing Transfer Vestibule and appropriately facilitate the needs of the person(s) at the door
- Handle deliveries, including both manually unloading material by hand where necessary and/or unloading using a forklift or pallet jack
- Verify the accuracy/condition of deliveries by ensuring the item(s) delivered match the receiving document, Metrc manifest, or other related documentation and are not damaged.
- Reject/return deliveries that are damaged or do not conform to related documentation, communicating receiving issues with applicable departments
- Communicate with appropriate internal contact upon the arrival of item(s) or person(s) to ensure the item(s) or person(s) are sent to the appropriate location
- Follow special procedures for purchases that fall under the Hazard
Communication Program, or are under MRA regulations
- Ensure all items received are sent to the correct location in the facility and moved in the appropriate inventory tracking system(s) into the correct location. All MRA regulated items (marijuana and marijuana products) must show in the correct location in Metrc
- Maintain records for inbound receipts/invoices in company file system
- Be able to produce documentation and answer questions in area of responsibility in the event of an internal or external inspection
- Ensure that inventory is accurate in all systems and conduct regular inventory checks to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Enter bills and invoices into ERP system
- Assist with other administrative or finance-related tasks

Physical demands
- Must be able to bend and reach
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. consistently
- Must be able to sit at a desk and work with computers for short periods throughout the day
- Must meet the State of Michigan’s visual standards for motor vehicle drivers’ in order to operate powered industrial equipment (can be demonstrated by a
Michigan Driver’s license indicating either “none” or “corrective lens” under restrictions). Operators who do not meet this requirement must demonstrate sufficient visual acuity in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of powered industrial truck operation, including: effective use of all 4 limbs, be of a height sufficient to operate the controls; have an unobstructed view over the dashboard; have coordination between eyes, hands, and feet; and have the ability to understand signs, labels, and instructions.
- Must have freedom from known convulsive disorders and episodes of unconsciousness for a period of 1 year before obtaining a powered industrial truck operator’s permit or a lesser time with the assurance from a neurologist that the disorders or episodes are under control.
Travel required
- As needed – likely none-to-minimal travel needed outside of reporting to work
Required education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred education and experience
- 2 years of related work experience
- Any experience operating a forklift; active forklift certification
- Any experience in bookkeeping, especially for cannabis operations
Additional eligibility requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must relinquish caregiver status upon hire, if applicable
- Must be willing and able to operate forklift
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
- Must submit a criminal history background check before hire
- Must report any new or pending criminal charges or convictions
- Must not have been convicted of an offense involving distribution of a controlled substance to a minor
