Position Scope
Are you an energetic, organized, outgoing, adaptive, goal-oriented individual with experience in working with non-profit organizations, looking to become part of creating dynamic change within an evolving new industry? Then this may be the position for you.
The Director of OCA Operations will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating OCA Board and Executive Committee directives and actions, overseeing the organizations communications with members and the public regarding OCA activities, and assist in developing policy positions and legislative strategies for OCA. This position will have interim duties and responsibilities for developing, organizing and executing fundraising and other events for the organization, in order to generate funding for a position dedicated to these tasks.
This position is full time, although weekly hours may vary. Salary DOE, with opportunity for bonuses based on overall OCA revenue.
Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000 + potential bonuses
General Responsibilities:
· Develop, organize, and implement strategic and policy directives of OCA as directed by the Board and Executive Committee
· Attend all Board and Executive Committee meetings, assist with preparing agendas and take minutes, and coordinate action items that come from committee meetings
· Develop and implement communication strategies for internal delivery of information to OCA members regarding Board and Executive Committee activities
· Oversee OCA’s lobbyist, and attend legislative counsel meetings or other advisory committee meetings as an OCA representative as directed by the Board
· Supervise fundraising and event planning staff (once hired)
· Other duties as assigned by the Board
Interim Responsibilities:
· Develop, organize, market and execute fundraising events and other social gatherings for OCA, and support the OCA PAC fundraising strategies as needed
· Develop and implement strategies to increase membership in OCA, and membership participation
· Support OCA’s Social Action and Engagement Committee on all event planning, marketing efforts, expungement clinics, and membership drives, and facilitate cohesive
· Develop and implement communication strategies for delivering updates and information to the public and OCA membership regarding legal and regulatory changes and OCA events
· Coordinate educational events and materials as requested by the Board
Required Skills/Experience
This candidate must possess:
· Experience working with non-profit boards in a managerial or executive director capacity
· Experience in or working knowledge of the cannabis industry, and the regulations, laws and policies important to the industry
· Exceptional communication (written and oral), organization, and management skills.
· Experience in coordinating groups of individuals or committees to further organizational goals
· Experience engaging with the public and media
· Ability to synthesize complex information in understandable ways
· Ability to handle and address conflict situations effectively, professionally and respectfully.
· Be able to work independently and in team settings effectively
· Understanding of basic office technology systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Zoom and other virtual platforms
· Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills
Ideally, this candidate will possess:
· Higher education in public policy or similar field
· Extensive experience in public speaking, preparing and delivering written materials to the public
