Senior Policy Associate [REMOTE]
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies
ORGANIZATION AND ROLE
The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana. Research indicates that psychedelics have the potential to be a breakthrough in treating PTSD, depression, addiction, and other conditions.
The MAPS Policy & Advocacy Department supports this mission by working to set the groundwork for a post-prohibition world, in part by eliminating barriers to psychedelic research, therapy, and care; advocating for psychedelic harm reduction; establishing legal frameworks for psychedelic use; and supporting international psychedelic policy reform. In addition, the MAPS Policy & Advocacy Department engages in movement building and intersectional advocacy by supporting psychedelic communities around the country and world, and by working closely with organizations and movements for healing and justice both within the drug policy community and beyond.
MAPS’ Senior Policy Associate (SPA) will provide research, writing, analysis, and other support for MAPS’ Policy & Advocacy Department, including its policy advocacy, educational, and harm reduction projects. This role would engage with, analyze, and write about a range of issues that relate to psychedelic science and therapy, state and federal policy, and legislative procedure and administrative law. Additionally, this role may help support internal organizational objectives including MAPS’ governance, legal, and non-profit needs. This role would report to the Director of Policy & Advocacy, Ismail Ali.
