Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is responsible for the startup and oversight of modern cultivation, processing, and dispensary operations. Responsibilities include oversight of staff hiring/training, genetics acquisitions, company goal setting, overseeing facilities, state compliance, all production and processing, product sales, inventory, budget forecasting and control. Additionally promoting the brand, supporting core value objectives, and optimizing our marketing strategies. Lastly, support with tasks needed for new project development and company growth.
This role will manage all cannabis operations and report directly to executives and stakeholders. This position will be compensated with salary and bonuses.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to step in if needed as acting manager at any facility
- Work with facility leads to ensure the organization's record keeping and compliance with local and state regulations
- Provide support to facility leads in escalated situations and manage the overall workflow at all facilities
- Oversee the creation and implementation of all practices, operation plans and policies while carrying responsibility for supervising all departments within all facilities
- Accountable for oversight of operations by developing and monitoring production and work schedules for all staff members. Ensure results are met with accuracy and precision for all aspects within the company
- Provide leadership presence with team members by displaying a supportive environment as well as organizing decisions and strategies by using detailed plans and operating procedures in a timely and efficient manner
- Monitor all equipment and develop routine maintenance schedules to ensure proper functionality
- Develop comprehensive staffing plans with executive and stakeholders
- Create and oversee budgets for all operational facilities
- Ensure plans for future development meet criteria that will allow for highest success through unique and proper design workflow implementation
- Report directly to executives and stakeholders on forecasting production output
- Maintain a standard of quality and quantity of end products by implementing proper practices and techniques within the facility
- Be at the facilities regularly to drive accountability with the facility operational teams
- Effectively manage current operations and promote the development of new facilities and services to meet changing market demands in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan
- Influence development and ensure that competent leadership and operational systems are in place
- Determine procedural changes in harvesting, drying, grading, storage and shipment for greater quality, efficiency and accuracy
- Monitor new product development and present ideas to executives and stakeholders
- Collect and analyze data on specific cultivars from seed to sale in order to help owners with strategic decision making
- Create and execute periodic internal audits to ensure company, state, and environmental regulations are met
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience overseeing daily operations of a business
- Experience creating and refining processes for a high-growth company
- Experience building teams and hiring/firing
- Proven track record of strategic planning and driving revenue
- Experience in creating, presenting, and performing within defined annual budgets
- Experience creating and reporting key performance indicators, weekly/bi-weekly metrics, executive summaries
- Experience in managing formal performance appraisal programs for team members, as well as identifying and developing high potential employees
- Excellent mathematical, language and reasoning skills

The Processing Manager has primary oversight responsibilities for all activities in the production center including pre-rolls, infused gummies, chocolates, cartridge filling, ice hash and rosin production, and maintenance of the related equipment. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a consistently compliant, safe, actively productive, and developmental environment for the Processing department to function at the highest efficiency. The Processing Manager will lead a team, schedule activities and processing to meet customer demand. This role will support the Director of Operations to direct and manage the Processing department while working collaboratively with other departments to ensure success for the company.
This role will manage all cannabis processing and report directly to the Director of Operations.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for scheduling and overseeing all extraction processes, cartridge fill functions and processing in preparation for packaging.
- The right candidate will possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit and thought process
- Creation of and adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures necessary to operate a successful cannabis extraction and edible production facility
- Intimate understanding of KPIs and their relevance to success in the production space
- Ensuring all documentation records are recorded accurately and timely for all functions within the department
- Responsible for the development of and adherence to standard operating procedures and policies along with all state and city regulations.
- Optimizing the processing equipment to ensure all product is produced and all deadlines are achieved
- Managing and scheduling staff and allocating manpower within processing department
- Oversee accurate filling, packaging, and labeling of products within the production facility. This includes, but is not limited to finished flower, pre-rolls, cartridges, concentrates, gummies, and other marijuana-infused products.
- Maintain that all production areas and equipment are clean and sanitized at all times according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that all sections of processing are in complete accordance with all Michigan regulations.
- Understand and apply the use of METRC, our seed to sale tracking program.
- Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conduct visual inspections to ensure the product meets or exceeds set quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years in production management/cannabis production role
- 2-3 years of experience in warehousing and inventory preferred
- Experience in solvent and solventless production procedures
- Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills
- Must be able to work well in a group and independently
- Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to use and manage METRC compliance software
- Able to communicate clearly and accurately

We are looking for a Controller for our growing cannabis cultivation and dispensary operations. The Controller will be accountable for all accounting operations, including the design of an organizational structure. They are responsible for the production of bill paying, financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results are in compliance with all Michigan’s state requirements.
This role will manage all accounting operations and report directly to the Director of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DESCRIPTION
- This hands-on controller will oversee the operations of the accounting and their control systems
- Prepare and present investor reports to the board of directors and investment partners
- Prepare reports for the various regulatory agencies as required by law
- Ensure accounts payable and accounts receivable are processed in a timely manner
- Ensure bank reconciliations are completed
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of quarterly financial presentations
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations - KPI’s
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports and financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants for tax preparation
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Weekly reviews for all local divisions, and may assist with processing payroll
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience required
- Advanced proficiency with cost of goods sold (COGS) and experience working with an Inventory Management System
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Must be comfortable working in a highly regulated industry
- Previous accounting experience in the cannabis industry and with the METRC system a plus
