Position: Director of Cultivation
Location: Bend Oregon
Company Details: Established vertically integrated cannabis company based in Bend Oregon with multiple licenses.
Summary:
This is a top leadership position in our cultivation department for a well-established long-standing brand in the Oregon Market. Ideal candidate will have great communication and leadership skills, strong organization and attention do detail and a history of management experience. A positive attitude and strong work ethic are a must. This is a “hands in the dirt” type of position as much as it is a logistical position, you will work closely with your team on all of the tasks they perform as well as work closely with our plant and soil scientist to implement feeding and integrated pest management schedules. This is a 45 hour per week position.
Job Duties
- Manage, organize, plan and maintain 10,000 sq foot indoor cultivation facility.
- Collect and record plant data, development and upkeep spreadsheet/database.
- Implement and maintain strong, consistent and reliable integrated pest management programs.
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment.
- Manage and directly supervise a team of 5 or more growers and trim team.
- Work with lead plant scientist to implement feeding schedules. A Bachelor/Master’s degree or diploma in Plant Sciences/Horticulture, or extensive relevant experience is a big plus.
- Worked at least 3 full years in a commercial greenhouse production facility in a management position or At least 3 years total indoor cultivation experience.
- Ability to meticulously follow, develop and update SOPs and document all activities.
- Knowledge of commercial cultivation, including automated systems, nutrient requirements, irrigation, cloning, flushing, trimming, mediums, light requirements, temperature control, air flow, pH management, waste disposal, METRC and OLCC compliance, organic cultivation and living soil.
- Knowledge of plants and genetics.
- Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as organic integrated pest management.
- Previous management experience in developing, leading, motivating, and mentoring staff.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Innovative thinking and problem solving. Positive attitude even under pressure.
Skills/Qualifications
- Production minded.
- In depth knowledge of all aspects of cannabis cultivation.
- Yield maximization techniques a must.
- Comfortable with technology and grow equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Large scale or industrial cultivation a plus.
- Perform all the tasks at the farm including cleaning, cloning, transplanting, defoliation, topping, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, packaging, waste disposal, curing, trim department oversight, METRC compliance and recording.
- Working with cannabis plants, harvesting, leading and directing a team to produce a high-quality product.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment a must.
- Facility maintenance and equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor required management of the farm, ability to work in agricultural setting.
- Must have accountability, proactive behavior, and strong attention to detail.

- Work with staff to understand and successfully implement new or existing systems and procedures, monitor cultivation, design and deploy best practices, implement updated SOPS and lead the team with an emphasis on efficiency and ongoing improvement.
- Create harvest schedules, clone schedules, mother schedules, maintenance schedules and employee schedules to ensure smooth perpetual harvest with lowest possible down time.
- Establish proper plant programs, crop schedules and standard operating procedures “SOP’s”.
- Manage plant locations and space needs.
- Responsible for Quality Assurance, Quality Control.
- Provide mentorship to your team.
- Work Directly with the CEO and COO to set production plans and establish production goals and standards.
- Ensure supplies/nutrients are stocked and ordered.
- Oversee horticulture research and development projects.
- Partner with Sales Dept. to enhance crop promotion.
- Work with Operations Officer to ensure the proper material and products are available on time for each crop, maintain inventory and supplies, create and follow re-order points.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- B.S in Horticulture or closely related field is a preferred
- MBA or Master of Science in Agriculture, Horticulture or related field preferred
- Working knowledge of new and emerging technology in the space
- Ability to oversee and manage a group of up to 12+ employees.
- PC skills and intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite competency.
Physical Requirements
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk or hear; and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close distance and color vision.
Compensation: $60-$65k, 401k, company medical and vision plan, employee discount, 2 weeks paid time off, product samples (benefits package valued at around $10/k annually). Annual performance reviews.
