Delaware Valley Community Health (DVCH) has an opportunity available for a Full-time Bilingual Dispensary Clerk to float between our multiple sites. Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the position is responsible for processing prior authorization requests, making medication adherence outreach calls to patients, and dispensing medications to and collecting co-pays from patients at our health centers’ medication dispensaries, as well as assist with compliance activities at all sites. Ensures that the contact between pharmacy staff and patients is efficient and a positive interaction and that the patients receive the correct prescriptions and facilitates access to education and pharmacist as needed.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Review and completes prior authorization requests with appropriate requested medical information.
- Completes outreach calls to patients who are overdue for medication refills.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and coaching patients about proper medication adherence.
- Facilitates refill requests to care coordination or provider as appropriate.
- Maintains complete, timely and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials, and transfers all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist.
- Understands, anticipates and responds to complex questions from third-party payers
- Prescreen payment sources to identify problematic payers
- Verifies prescription information along with patients’ insurance, collects co-pays and refills any necessary prescriptions.
- Accurately dispenses medications according to the patients’ prescription.
- Establishes and maintains patient profiles while following confidentiality procedures.
- Keeps abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes in the pharmacy industry and incorporates knowledge in the performance of job duties.
Qualifications and Skills Needed:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician program is required.
- Pharmacy Technician certification required.
- Previous pharmacy experience required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of care team and other colleagues.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to use good reasoning and judgement.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated good listening, customer service skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
- Be able to spend long periods of time at a desk and/or computer terminal.
- Be able to lift up to 25 pound boxes.
- Occasional travel between health centers may be required.
