Cannabis Testing Laboratory seeking a full-time Analytical Chemist for extraction and analysis of cannabis in various matrixes (plant, extracts, etc.).
The Laboratory Scientist performs routine and complex analytical tests on cannabis product to ensure product safety and protect public health in accordance with Nevada State Law. The Laboratory Scientist can perform in all sections of the instrument laboratory under the supervision of the Senior Chemist.
Required: Must be able to pass police background check, obtain a Nevada Marijuana Establishment Agent Card and Work Card. Must have valid Nevada State driver’s license.
Education Required:
- BA or BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Science or other scientific discipline from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year Experience in a regulated laboratory, such as Food Testing, Clinical Laboratory, Toxicology Laboratory, Environmental Testing, or equivalent
- Experience with one or more of the following: HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, HS-GC-FID/MS
Responsibilities:
- Performs instrumental analysis testing in the Nevada-licensed and ISO 17025-certified laboratory, participates in quality control, quality assurance and troubleshooting activities.
- Performs duties under general direction, carrying out work assignments in accordance with SOPs and objectives established by the Laboratory Director.
- Responsible for the proficient performance of his or her own work assignments and is expected to provide guidance to less-experienced personnel.
- Handle and process samples, analyze test results, prepare reports and maintain records of test results within regulatory requirements.
- Enter sample information and results into the laboratory information management system.
- Comply with quality control policies and document QC activities including instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Identify problems that may affect data quality and, following established protocols, correct problems and/or notify Senior Chemist.
- Identify non-conformances from acceptable performance specifications and follow established policies and procedures to implement and document corrective action.
- Participate in ongoing validation and verification of assay performance.
- Participate in optimizing standard operating procedures for tasks in which proficiency has been demonstrated according to regulatory guidelines.
- Perform additional duties and projects assigned by the Senior Chemist, including, but not limited to: sample processing, field sampling, sample accessioning.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing cannabis laboratory operations.
- Must be able to consistently complete analyses at or exceeding annual performance or laboratory goals.
- Must be able to perform quality control testing, analyze data and prepare reports for management review within established time frames.
- Maintain knowledge and technical proficiency in specialty areas assigned within the laboratory.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to local, state and federal regulatory requirements by following Company policies and procedures.
- Deal with all problems and work issues honestly, maintaining the integrity of the company at all times.
- Flexible and able to work beyond assigned shift hours as dictated by work volume and approved by Supervisory staff.
- Occasional weekend hours may be required.
