The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Clinical Nurse II to join the UCLA Center for Cannabis and Cannabinoids. You will contribute to research studies of drugs, including cannabinoids, to understand both their potential therapeutic and adverse effects. Primary duties include:
- Administering research protocols to ensure compliance with IRB approved study designed.
- Conducting telephone interviews with prospective research participants
- Coordinating schedules of volunteers with those of research (physicians, psychologists, research assistants) and clinical personnel
- Oversee the completion of research questionnaires
- Maintain source documents, case report forms, and data books in compliance with FDA regulations
- Place and remove intravenous lines to draw blood, perform electrocardiograms, and monitor vital signs
Qualifications
Degree: BSN or MSN
License: Current valid CA RN license
Certifications: BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Minimum of 2 years' research experience
Ability to question subjects about sensitive behavioral issues, including drug use and other high-risk behaviors
Maintain constructive working relationships with staff, Investigators, patients, and collaborators
Experience working with patients from diverse backgrounds, especially active substance users
Skilled in keeping accurate and timely records;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to work effectively and closely with other members of the research and clinical team, with community-based researchers, and with community stakeholders.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and report to supervisor(s) on a regular basis and in a timely manner;
Ability to problem solve and manage demands/assignments/deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and use of Internet.
Skill in using equipment to conduct medical and laboratory procedures, including but not limited to phlebotomy collection devices, vital signs equipment, EKG machines, and AED
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings
