We are a growing company positioned at the top of a newly emerging industry with an exciting opportunity for the right individual to gain access and experience in this vastly growing industry. Reference Labs, LLC is seeking to fill new openings within the laboratory for the position of Cannabis Sampling Technician.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Samplers/Field Technicians work largely in the field, driving to customer sites, and working directly with clients to collect samples per established procedures.
Samplers/Field Technicians will report to the lab at the beginning and end of each shift to receive instructions and drop off samples.
Samplers/Field Technicians establish the chain of custody of products sampled between the customer and the laboratory. Log sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and ensure the sampling takes place using appropriate methods, proper and clean tools, and personal protective wear.
Samplers/Field Technicians are also responsible for developing positive customer relationships and collecting payments from customers.
Samplers/Field Technicians should be proficient in the use of basic laboratory hardware such as analytical balances and calibration check weight sets.
Samplers/Field Technicians will understand and follow Quality System documents relevant to responsibilities, e.g., Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods.
Perform the necessary laboratory functions associated with the Sampling of cannabinoid containing products such as but not limited to: adhering to SOPs for the proper logging, handling and transport of laboratory test samples, creation of subcontract samples and transfers, cleaning required labware, and maintaining inventory/ordering supplies as needed.
Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed the standards set by the 2016 TNI NELAC and company requirements relevant to assigned duties.
Maintain a neat and accurate documentation and record system; keep accurate records of work performed on a daily basis and as needed for quality control tests or regulatory purposes using both physical and electronic copies.
Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, fun, and, safe work environment.
Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Experience using Microsoft Office.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
PREREQUISITES:
Associates Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) in physical or biological science or closely related field with 1-year relevant experience.
Personal Qualities/Profile:
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; Team and detail oriented.
Excellent communication skills. Responsive problem solver and action oriented.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
A strong mechanical aptitude.

We are a full-service cannabis testing and research lab offering state-mandated testing services to California’s cannabis distributors, cultivators, and manufacturers to ensure safety and accurate labeling of products for medical and recreational use.
The Field Sampling Technician role is a key position responsible for collecting and documenting cannabis samples at client sites and bringing them to the lab. Great customer service, attention to detail and reliability are a must for this important role. This position has potential for advancement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect field samples of cannabis products at client sites in accordance with state regulations and company procedures
- Accurately record sample information, taking great care to accurately record batch numbers and all details required for transport manifests
- Follow detailed procedures to ensure cleanliness and avoid contamination of samples being collected. This is essential a mobile laboratory position.
- Weigh samples with a field balance and record sample weights.
- Input data into company ordering and tracking system and double check for accuracy
- Drive to client sites and return samples to the laboratory all over Southern California
- Driving for multiple hours at a time
- Provide excellent customer service
- Build trust and rapport with clients
- Work efficiently and effectively under time constraints
- Confirm client invoices for accuracy and send them to client
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Follow safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be organized
- Must be punctual
- Customer Service experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in use of email, including Microsoft Outlook
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have valid California Drivers License and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in chemistry or biology highly preferred
- 1 or more years of laboratory experience
- Understanding of asceptic technique
- Experience in a cannabis testing laboratory or cannabis industry
- Knowledge of the Bureau of Cannabis Control regulations
- Knowledge of METRC
- Experience with various software including group messenger apps and Excel
