The duties of the Building Maintenance Technician include aiding with facility maintenance and upkeep, as well as assisting in routine and preventative maintenance of all facility equipment. The Building Maintenance Technician should have some exposure to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, as well as general facility maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out any required minor facility repair, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, troubleshooting, security systems, and preventative maintenance, while maintaining a high-level of knowledge of these systems.
- Assist in construction, preventative, routine, and breakdown maintenance and repairs on all equipment in the facility.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Complete work orders as directed.
- Develop a high-level of knowledge concerning facility equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies & required training (Safety, Quality, Regulations, etc)
- Research, evaluate and adapt to new methods, in order to meet or exceed goals, and or modify their technique/procedures based on all applicable laws.
- Perform other maintenance duties as requested.
Required Skills:
- Must be highly knowledgeable with hand and power tools.
- Must be highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgment, common sense and resourcefulness.

In this position you will establish & maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers through effective oral and written communication skills via phone, computer, and face to face. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests including replacement, and modifications of equipment or systems as needed or requested by the grow house team. Communicating with Grow house team members/Management, Facilities Maintenance and/or Project Managers regarding inspection/service findings is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjust, fix or replace all hardware on doors, cabinets, furniture, bathroom partitions, windows, etc.
- Replace stained or damaged ceilings, flooring, cove base, wall protection, ceramic tiles, etc.
- Change light bulbs, fixtures, ballasts, switches, receptacles, and reset circuit breakers.
- Replace faucet washers and change toilet seats.
- Patch and paint walls.
- Repair roofing, blacktop, cement, masonry and block.
- Remove or relocate snow, de-ice grounds.
Tour buildings and grounds.
- Document all facility deficiencies through daily travels.
- Complete assigned Preventative Maintenance slips.
- Repair or report deficiencies.
Complete daily Work Orders:
- Respond to Emergency Work Orders including clearing clogged toilets, sinks, drains, water leaks, loss of power, unsafe facility conditions, etc.
- Complete urgent and routine work orders including uncrating, moving, assembling, and installing free standing and wall hung equipment, etc.
- Forward work orders that are to be completed by specific trades.
Required Education and Experience
Required Education: High School/GED. Certificate of completion of a vocational school in building maintenance or a certificate from a certified school, in building maintenance.
Required Experience: Three to five years’ working experience in building maintenance.
Additional Technical Requirements
- Experience in working within a building maintenance environment including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting skills.
- Ability to read prints, sketches, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, schematic drawings.
- Experience in the use of all industrial hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and customer oriented.
- Must possess good lateral and vertical communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must have the ability to climb, work in close quarters, lift heavy objects, and work outside in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be flexible enough to work different hours and shifts to meet customer and maintenance needs.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of 10 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, tobacco, cannabis, and toxicology testing. Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered, ensuring our building and grounds remain safe and functional. The Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around the facility. Our ideal candidate has prior building maintenance and cleaning experience and a keen eye for detail. Some other tasks a Maintenance Technician may be called upon to do include:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and routine building inspections to identify possible issues
- Replace broken fixtures and hardware
- Maintain warehouse, including products receiving and processing in inventory management system.
- Landscape maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace by performing weekly janitorial duties.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning and repair supplies
- Manage sample disposal area
- Other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
