Overview of Position
The Team Leader assumes some of the day-to-day duties of the Store Manager and/or Associate Store Manager when the SM or ASM is not working. The Team Leader, along with the Budtender’s, is the welcoming face of Wellness Connection of Maine to our customers. The successful candidate will possess outstanding customer service skills, constant desire for self-improvement, and attention to details. This supervisory, yet non-management position offers the opportunity to learn and grow with the Company and to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.

Duties and Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Team Leader include interacting with, educating, and advising customers face-to-face and by phone; record-keeping; assisting with inventory and cash management; interacting with local service providers; and helping to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility inside and out.
- Greets customers in person or on the phone
- Maintains customer records in compliance with State law and Company policy
- Answers questions about the law and the Company from customers and others
- Assists customers in selecting product
- Assists Store Manager and/or Associate Store Manager with inventory and cash management, daily and weekly
- Maintains a clean, safe, welcoming environment inside and outside the facility
- Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Associate according to Company needs
When the Store Manager or Associate Store Manager is not present, the Team Leader assumes management duties including, but not limited to:
Opening
- Update menus
- Ensure display case is completely set up before opening
- Ensure all product is pulled out of safe room and placed into proper product holding units
- Ensure store is clean (vacuumed, trash bags replaced, display case free of fingerprints, etc.)
- Ensure cash drawer is activated and there is appropriate amount of change to get through the day
- Conduct morning meeting with staff
- Schedule lunch breaks
Closing
- Run Pay Code History report to determine sales numbers for the day
- Reconcile cash drawer after it has been counted by Budtender
- Bundle cash and put into deposit envelope
- Print out Physical Count Worksheet and Inventory Status Report and check counted inventory against expected inventory per Inventory SOP
- Send out end of day e-mail with sales/visits numbers
- Ensure all lights are off, doors are locked, and alarm is set before leaving
At all times, the Budtender Team Leader is considered the front-line support for the Budtenders. When the Store Manager and/or Associate Store Manager is not present or when the Store Manager and/or Associate Store Manager is present, but consumed with other duties, the Team Leader assumes the following duties including, but not limited to:
- Assists Budtenders with voids, etc. in Counterpoint
- Handles Customer interactions outside of Budtender realm of responsibility
- Disgruntled members
- Counterpoint uncertainties (error codes, etc.)
- Ensures SOPs are being strictly followed by staff
- Addresses performance issues with Member Liaisons, as needed
- Receives transfers of medicine and retail
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years post-secondary education in a related field preferred
Work Experience Required
- 3+ years’ experience in a fast-paced client-service intensive industry – hospitality and retail backgrounds preferred
- Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept, lead, and complete additional projects or challenges
Required Knowledge
- Computer & equipment operations necessary for running an office/retail center (POS systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)
- Thorough understanding of Maine state law governing medical marijuana
- Arithmetic necessary for basic inventory and cash management
- Familiarity with history and varieties of medical marijuana preferred but not required
